yeah but knowing SE and BLU-magic lately, i wouldnt bet the update would do any wonders for blu magic. on another note, why is SE so fucking hesitent to add any decent/good cure-potency + pieces for blu? all our options are below ilvl 100 gear. we cant even reach the cure potency cap, now that sanus ensis was thrown out of the window anyway.

The blue magic potency is item level based, yes. They're basically adding blue magic attack power based on the item level of your sword, in addition to the DMG added of the previous update.

The attack boost will almost certainly be equal to the +skill on the weapon, so it will be pretty significant increase.

Hopefully a decent enough boost, as I want to regear my BLU for SoA standards come the update with +80 inventory.

On that note, is there much need for an m.acc/MAB set using Hagondes on blu? I'm a couple pieces away from having the general top-end TP/WS set Prothescar's guide on AH.com has, but I'm not fluent on how BLU's spells perform in SoA, and whether I still need to throw on +BLU Skill gear with all the other stat boosts modern gear gives.

Needs to be more than just that to be a reasonable increase. hoping they add some more multipliers onto the blue magic formula.

We definitely need a lot more. On the other hand if we could cap without buffs they would consider that unbalance compared to DDs that need buffs. Wish they'd lift the ban on letting any att buffs effect blu spells.

I'm aware (base damage is still too low), but it still most certainly is a pretty significant (and perhaps we have varying definitions of the word) increase to attack. I'm hoping they take it at least one step further and give blue magic 2-hander mechanics.

On the spell side, I'm optimistic that they will give the new stuff PDIF bonuses.

Perhaps they should give blue magic attack some kind of unique aspect to make it not suck against stronger monsters, while not overpowering them for weaker ones.

For example, they could give it a minimum cratio of say, 1.0, so it would always perform at least that well, or maybe they could give it a type of reverse level correction, +5% blue magic attack per level they are above 99.

The case for single wielding on Delve Bosses:

This applies only under the effect of either 2 HR bard marches or Embrava (I'm still baffled why some people choose to do both at once, as with either you are a minimum delay). Numbers here have attack capped for the same of simplicity, it doesn't affect the percentage comparisons.

DW: Assumed 10% crit rate and fSTR of 15, DW 32%, sTP 28. Avg melee hit: 308. Number of hits to WS: 15. Avg WS damage: 5484. Avg # attacks/round(DA,ect): 1.59. Time per WS: 7.36+2(WS) = 9.36. DPS: 1079

Single Wield: Assumed 15% crit and fSTR 13, sTP 30. Avg melee hit: 341. Numer of hits to WS: 11. Avg WS damage: 4680. Avg # attacks/round (DA,ect): 1.65. Time per WS: 5.33+2(WS) = 7.33. DPS:1150

So a 6-7% increase in total damage, but also the fact that you need not worry about using acc food (the offhand acc is the one keeping you from capping acc). There is a slight bonus from fencer on WS that I did not calculate and finally the -10% physical damage taken from Genbu isn't totally worthless.

This can be expanded for a WAR/SAM (if you happen to have one) for swapping to single axe on bosses and it will have a higher overall output of damage than Razorfury and of course WARs get some pretty nice defensive shields (again not totally worthless).

I'd assume if they were doing both it would be to have the other songs enhanced. Unless you mean people actually 2hr double march with embrava in which case wtf.

I am curious about the missing steps in getting time to ws. Because it looks very odd. Specifically the ratio of the times to ws is almost identical to the ratio of hits to ws which makes it almost look like you used the same delay in both. Is there sambas in there or something?

    In regard to missing steps:

    DW: [(delay 240 + 228) x 0.68]/2 - 180 (x1.5/180) + 5 = 4.8 tp per hit x 1.28(stp) = 6.1 TP per hit. After TP from WS (11 to 14ish), 6.1tp/hit it will take 15 hits to WS again. So (240+228) x 0.2 (delay)/60/2/1.59 (attacks per round) = 0.49 secs per swing. Then 0.49 x 15 hits +2(WS) = 9.35 seconds per time till next WS.

    Single: Delay 240 - 180 (x6.5/270) + 5 = 6.4 tp per hit x 1.3(stp) = 8.3 tp per hit. After TP from WS (9.4 to 11.4ish), at 8.3tp/hit it will take 11 hits to WS again. So 240 x 0.2(delay)/60/1.65 (attacks per round) = 0.485 secs per swing x 11 hits + 2(ws) = 7.33 secs per time till next WS.

Some people might write that out a little differently to make it easier to read, but that's how arrive at that. Bascially the times per with the lesser avg delay from DW is a bit counteracted by the fact that you have 7 additional DA from the earring slots (since no dw earrings). But now that I think about it you could prob just swap earrings upon bard 2hr and close the DPS gap a little. However you would still be missing the defense from the shield and more importantly the fact you don't need to worry about the offhand accuracy (ie better food choices for more att). Additionally there is less runover on TP over WS with single wielding vs DW.

This would be the part I have a problem with. With the situation you described neither setup should be at .2 delay. Assuming capped gear/magic haste the dual wield setup should be .2125 and the single wield should be .3125 unless you add haste samba in there. I mean you don't have to do any math to show if dual wielding isn't making you attack faster but it's still lowering your tp per hit that it's going to lower your overall dmg. And for that matter if you were at capped delay without dual wield somehow why would you be setting full dw3 and gearing more dual wield gear in anyways?

Apparently I didn't take into account the magical haste cap and just assumed marches had double potency (ie 40% instead of 20%, which when added to 25% eq haste and haste spell (15%) would be 80%. So this a large error on my calc.

The last part I pointed out in my previous post , where you could simply swap gear to get the extra double attack, instead of the 7% DW, but you wouldn't really reset spells to avoid setting DW3, that wouldn't serve much purpose.

Point noted, I was just fooling around with some numbers and capped haste, but failed to realize that 2HR bard songs don't really cap you (unless you have DNC in party).

Current BLU attack is ~500-560ish or so, even with the +attack from skill being added (200-240ish) that still puts our BLU attack at 700ish which is still floored pdif on basically any delve NM. In other words there's not much difference in attack power between 0 and 700 blue attack against NMs with 1500+ defense. What does help somewhat is Angon/Dia/GEO spells which lower the mob's def which means you need less attack to increase the ratio in your favor. It'd be nice if they added a multiplier or even added in main hand weapon skill in addition(not just +skill from sword but actual main hand skill too). Even if they don't, can count on new spells to have a heavy innate attack bonus % like Tachi Gekko hopefully. I hope the new spells let us set old traits using less points or even replace trash spells(Empty Thrash/Blazing Bound/Barbed Crescent/Acrid Stream/Mortal Ray, I'm looking at you!)

I want them to give us an Entropy-like spell that does damage and converts to MP maybe even make it close a Dark or Light SC so we get a large chunk of MP back would be nice. It is kinda lame that BLU has become a swordmage in the past few years and we rarely if ever use spells because it slows our attack speed and WS frequency down.

Most current spells have decent att bonuses too. But I think it's fair to assume that on hard content blu spells will never do good without def down. Of course melees wouldn't do good either without that and/or decent att buffs. If they ever fix troubillion man you can get some -def so hard it wont really matter what your att is lol

Did tourb always land on TW mobs? I got excited when I landed multiple times in a row on TW elementals, then had eternal sadness when I could land every single /blm spell at capped land rate on adoulin mobs but not stick tourbillion once.

iirc even then it was hit or miss but idk I haven't bothered playing with it since SE said gtfo with that shit.

works on some mobs EP and below. my tests using things around the level range of batallia downs tigers, crabs, and weapons came up with mostly resists.

were there any new animations or anything added to the dats that may give us hints on our upcoming spells?
