Demon's have no ranged attack animation in the dats, other than Hecatomb Wave. It's always been that way in Dyn-Xarc.

Just like the Yagudo Rangers use feather storm when they Eagle Eye Shot.Originally Posted by Tonko
RNG and NIN demons have always done Hecatomb Wave in place of normal ranged attacks. Best thing about it is that its AoE too, especially when silly Paladins holding the mobs face the mob towards your alliance.Originally Posted by FFXIFlux
The damage is easily cut down by Baraero though.

I've made it a habit to yell a lot in xarcabard when ppl face the nin's and rng's at the alliance, and the sleepers (like the guy a few posts up) totally ignore the fact that this is flooding the screen:
The Kindred Ninja readies Hecatomb Wave.
The Kindred Ninja readies Hecatomb Wave.
The Kindred Ninja readies Hecatomb Wave.
The Kindred Ninja readies Hecatomb Wave.
The Kindred Ninja readies Hecatomb Wave.

Yes another wonderfull side effect of the Blue Mage Job.
Barwater for Cursed Sphere was a big WTF for me.
Baraero for Mysterious Light only made sense due to the Gravity additional effect.
Hecatomb Wave Being Wind was weird. Figured it would've been Darkness.
Bad Breath being Earth was suprising.
The others make sense, given their name, or their additional effects.
I always knew about cursed sphere being barwater, didn't know about the other ones though. At least this will stop those who hadn't tested it from telling me to baraera, their other attacks are water based so I never understood why people doubted it so much before.
They drop WIND CRYSTALS! And they fly.
So totally obviously wind.
i was so pro back in boyahda on these :3 not knowing the element for Cursed Sphere, i used barwatera for the Venom WS or something, and poison (and the dmg from the WS itself) is water-based~ so i was already blocking it and telling other whms to do the same :33333Originally Posted by Tonko
I must be thinking of Fomor having the blinkable ranged attacks then. I've never had hecatomb wave spammed on me before so I thought it was pretty odd, particularly since it's a TP attack and it was being done by the NM that was being off tanked by a lone NIN.Originally Posted by Jeryhn
Flux - the Hecatomb wave stuff isn't new, when sleepers are on the ball with the rangers it's not an issue.
I have seen it before this past week. It's really only a problem in those pulls near the Animated Dagger where there's multiple rangers, but since we got the fragment I don't expect to see those pulls again anytime soon.
Actually scratch that, it can be annoying when fighting Gamygyn and the kiter/tanker is facing it in on the alliance.
If you kite gamygyn around the tower every time it gets in range of you it's just gonna try and hecatomb wave and get out of ranged. ie anyone could kite it <_<
Hey, don't need to tell me. I'm not the one kiting!
Though I did end up kiting Orias on Tuesday and eating a single target Firaga 3. Yay Stoneskin for keeping me alive.
Hmm, so I wanted to see how much each Physical Potency would increase my dmg. I had 62+55 STR and used Sneak Attack Death Scissors on Bumblebees. It did 660 all the time.
Put one merit into it and it was still the same. :/
Doesn't it increase maximum dmg or what?
I took "Physical Potency" to be an increase of the TP effect. I figured if they wanted it to increase damage they would have said "Attack" not potency.Originally Posted by Moochi
The JP client says attack power, so I dunno if thats a translation error or not. Anyway I noticed my damage has gone up, like the 1k canonball I did on tiamat ^_^Originally Posted by Aodh
I'm not at home to check, I think the TP description on Death Scissors is Crit Hit varies with TP or something like that. Cannonball however is Damage Varies with TP. I have 4 upgrades into Physical Potency and I do notice a damage difference on the "Damage varies with TP" but not as much (if at all) with a "Crit varies with TP" message.

I put 3 ranks in and I'm pretty underwhelmed with the results but even 60 damage on 1000 would be hard to spot casually. Next time I have 4 merit to waste I'll try to do some before and after tests.
Test it again but this time use CA and 0 TP each time, and see if that makes a difference.Originally Posted by Moochi
I was gonna get 10 merits and put 4 into it at once and try it before and after. But Tiamat popped the other day so I put 3 into it cause I wanted to see if I would do better dmg. Put the 4th into it now.
Something that I found weird about Death Scissors with SA on the Bees is that it would do a constant dmg 50% of the time (in this case 660). I tried this 30-40 times. I never got a constant number when I used CASA.
Here's a few samples. All of them is SA Death Scissors on Bumblebees
62+55 STR (Royal Cloak)
660
660
601
596
660
633
660
62+55 STR (AF body)
672
658
675
675
675
62+59STR (Vishnu's Vest)
659
666
666
648
666
This has probably already been covered but if you use the monster correlation chart and use a physical spell e.g Death Scissors on a Mandy you get a 16.7% dmg bonus. 666 Death Scissors on Bee went up to 777 on a Mandy. If you do it the other way around (like Uppercut vs a bee) you get a 16.7% dmg decrease. I'd like to put a merit into that just to see how much it increases. I didn't try this with the AF hat cause I don't have it yet.
To Aodh:
It's possible it only works with Chain Affinity. Need to test this also then. That would be pretty lame though. :/
Anyone know a spell that does constant dmg on newbie mobs with Sneak Attack CA?
EDIT: @Demitrius: wrote that as you posted. Yea, I will try but I need 5 merits.
