Blue Mage: Best thread ever

Well I've never had the experience of pulling as BLU. Chances are if you're pulling on BLU, your PT has problems.

Anyway, I just did a 1200 canonball on Tiamat. Times are good

Edit: I think what spells you set should depend more on the ability/competency of your party. If you have mages who are on the ball for example, refueling, healing breeze and magic fruit really wouldnt be necessary. Personally I never used Warm-Up in exp, but I was usually /thf. Never used Diamondhide either (I set it a couple times when I first got it, but the mp cost and the fact that usually no one aside from the tank benefits from it in exp made me take it out)

I go /nin for the most part, not a fan of /thf after Frenetic Rip but after partying with another BLU subbing it last night, I'm starting to wonder.

I'm in a set party with a PLD, RDM and BRD and I tend to grab us another two melee giving us a 4 melee, 2 mage set up. Because of this, I was trying to set a few helpful spells for curing 'cause sometimes it's just too much for a Red Mage and a Bard with enough to do already. The TP spam we generated for Magmatic Eurca's Incinerate got pretty bad sometimes. What we were fighting yesterday had AoE DOT so I was using Diamondhide to soak it up and Healing Breeze to keep things flowing smoothly. Basically, I tried to play a somewhat support over the last few parties as opposed to an all-out damage dealer.

I like chaotic eye/firespit since its only 2pts more and gives 3 str. Cannonball is good but Uppercut is like the best for stats and being very cheap too. Autorefresh gets cheaper as you level and getting it set to SelfDestruct(gives STR), Frightful (duh), and Plasma Charge (a ton of STR and DEX) owns for bonus compaired to points spent.

So what kind of strat goes into these large cannonball numbers? For me its basically as much +str as possible from gear and spells, then for defense I use cocoon, 2 minnes. My best cannonball to date (edit: on anything worthwhile) was 1123 on Kirin with 0 tp (used azure lore), when we did Tiamat I didn't have a bard but did a 850 cannonball to him, just curious what kind of setups people go with.

(I'd like to try Kirin again with 300tp, but I usually can't make Kirins when my LS goes so I only tried blu once on it. I used the 300tp on a vertical cleave which did around 1k, would love to try again with cannonball and that much tp :/ )

Dosen't matter what pt you are, if theres about 70 exping at thickets and about 50 at caedemire, 40-60 at moutn zholym and about 4-5 pt's at mamook and you want chain5 somewhere its either you pull or them

You could stand out in the open at thickets and pretty claim anything in the area soon as it pops without much if any movment.

I removed Conserve MP eventually since I didn't even really notice it firing all that often.

Replaced it with Store TP.

btw, Cannonball Light isn't that bad, it's just not as good as Savage->Disseverment. But I was 71 at the time.

Light wasn't showing up most of the time due to Equip Swaps, but you could tell it was either 1/2 or mirrored a majority of the time.

We had a RDM MBing as well.

Anyone considered using Storm Tulwar for BLU? I know adding 0.1 to the multiplier of Vorpal/Savage Blade will only work on lightsday, which isn't very helpful, but looking at it from a D/Delay point of view it seems decent.
