Because it's taking a risk that your group wasn't willing (or possibly even able) to deal with. I know the concept, why walk when you can take anything else and sit down the entire way. But, frankly, what makes you any different than the people who tried taking out "legit" beforehand? Fafnir IS generous, he drops a weskit every day, aegish every other, and balmung/hrotti weekly. And you only pay attention for 5 minutes every hour.

People *do* collect AF, even if it's blah. I watch what drops in my shell, and I don't think we've had a single run in the 8+ months we've been going that we didn't get a single AF that someone had in comment. Meaning at least one person went home with a drop they wanted EVERY RUN. That's a pretty decent record.

And even if you DO get skunked for AF, y helo ther shitloads of money worth of coins.

No, he does not drop a Talon every day, far from it. Aegis is trash, my LS does Bahamut BCNM #2 often so our PLDs wear Bahamut's Mask, and that comes from a shock, COP ZONE LOL. Hrotti is equally trash, that's like praising Jailer of Justice for dropping a Justice Sword, which as a matter of fact happens to be more useful than a Hrotti, and again comes from a LOL COP ZONE.

Ridill is god. I agree, however it's still a shit drop rate. We've gotten 19 of them out of a good 350 kills. Wow, an amazing 5.4% drop rate =/. Sounds like a even more sadistic version of Sea.

Abjurations are great. However, you're going to reach a point where you max out on them. That's when you start thinking hey, maybe sea is worth your time instead of seeing a M body being given to a WAR for Jeuno gear.

Maybe you value trash, but AF2 that either goes in storage, is dropped to the ground, or has no HNM/EXP PT utility has zero value to me. It might as well not have dropped at all. It may as well be sea.

I think it'll be funny when someone finds the 'simple' trick to AV and kills him easily. I find it no one finds it concerning that only one theory is used ever on AV and it deemed that no theories work(Ebon panels doesn't count as a theory).

Talon is nottttttttt 100%. Also, for the majority of the time that Fafnir has been around (3 years?) Dragon Talons had about the same value as Dragon Scales. Trash. People used to make Dragon Rings and Dragon Claws with them, and they sold rarely on the AH for 50k.

I wish I could find people to sell a Hrotti to, but they're few and far between. Just because some JP linkshell on Bahamut may do it (and thus you read about it on this forums often), does not make it a common occurance on all servers.

Bahamut #2 wins aren't that rare. If you're the #1 haijin NA HNMLS of the server, chances are you're on the way to winning (farming Ouryu, etc) or have already done it. There are three LSes on my server who have won that BC. The full strategy was posted over time in the third? epic Bahamut thread.

Sea is cool beacuse I have yet to trash any drop besides the 100% weapons. +8 Magic Accuracy and 7% Magic Attack Bonus are not decent, they're INCREDIBLE considering what other items are viable in those slots. You really think Aureole and Novio Earring are decent at best over Phantom Tathlum and Abyssal Earring?

If it's not 100% it's so high I can't remember a single kill without one. And either does Ryko. And guess what, Talon was useless back when Hrotti was the bomb and aegishjalmr was to die for.

When CoP came out instead of introducing better drops that required CoP progression, they used faf's drop for the best blm nuking armor to date. They didn't add justice sword for 10 months, nor bahamut's mask for 15+. Way to lure people out of the aery, SE.

And I think I've said enough times in the past that you should know my rather dim view on even-more-mab for blms. Those shits die with half a MP bar because they nuke too hard, that's pretty fucking useless. If anything talk about Novia earring rather than her brother. Aureole, where? Nowhere, that's where, and now that AV draws in and the loot density in sea STILL sucks, that's how it's going to stay.

Who cares?

Nobody is going to lose thousands of EXP, and couple hours trying to discover the "real way" to kill AV now he can draw-in. Everyone is too busy getting a Turban, EXPing in new areas to get ISP and sell coins (or save them), waiting for the next Besieged with 500 others people in the zone, doing an Assault to get some hawt Assault gear, or level COR / PUP / BLU as fast as possible.

In one week, ToAU beat what CoP tried to do for more than a year: make people have fun.

When my shell focused on sky, we farmed 2-3 kirin pops a week, getting great gear for lots of people the whole time, be it kirin gear, be it the lesser god drops, or the even occasional neato bandito weapon from one of the lesser NMs. (indra katars USED to be teh sechs, remember?)

Since my shell has focused more on sea, we farmed *one* JoL pop set in about 6 months. Along with the trash jailer weapons(latent effect: inventor -1), and *maybe* 5 torques. I don't even think we've gotten 5 torques actually. I don't think we've gotten any of those capes either. (unless somehow we got one that I wasn't there for and i didn't hear about it, which is possible)

We're now getting ready to pop JoL soon, now that we have a pop set, and I'm excited to be able to fight it, but still, looking back, was it worth it? No, it wasn't.

There is only one HNM in this expansion, Cerberus, who has roughly the same pop frequency as Tiamat. Maybe someone will find Hydra, however I have looked through all existing zone mob .dats and have not see his name, but I could have missed it. Yes, the mysterious mob name is Hydra, the texture files have the monster name inbeded in them.

Assault is not ment for HNMLSes in its present state, perhaps some sort of Odin alliance BCNM may open up once you reach a certain teir, however this is pure speculation and unimplemented.

I predict by mid May my LS, and probably the other NA haijins on other servers will return to Sea. Sure, EXPing BLU and meriting in incredible locations is loads of fun, but you can only take so much of it. AV will die, legitmately, in due time =P.

You're probably right, but unlike CoP we actually got HNMs to play with at the start. Combine that with new jobs and other fun assorted things (new merit zones, quests, assault, beseiged etc) and that should hopefully last until the next patch.

Wyrms were released when CoP was released. I remember poking vrtra after the patch but before CoP came out.

The haijins would never leave Dragon's Aery in the first place. At least for my LS, ground king, COP wyrms, and Cerberus pop times supercede sky/sea/limbus/dynamis/exploring ToAU/meriting if it ever conflicted.
