the main stats are MP and hMP on this earring. this is what you can choose after beating the last COP/ZM mission, the culmination of years of FFXI work. you get to pick 1 earring out of 4, and it's irrevocable

new item: antivenom earring, +15MP, +1hMP, +resist poison
i beleive its 2000 assault points. you could get it in 1 day. if you picked magnetic earring for the MP and hMP, you just got screwed by S-E. should have picked a different earring i guess.
I really don't know anyone who has the magnetic earring who thinks this. A lot of people get it for the conserve mp. There were already relaxing and boroka for +hmp. And who cares about mp on an earring.

one of the hardest items to get in the game (new AF2), and very costly in terms of effort required (ra/ex of course)

new item: cape with +30HP +30MP. 8000 assault points. obtainable probably in 3-5 days without too much hardship. if your LS spent time, gil, and XP farming dynamis-valkurm and got the SMN cape, it was kind of wasted effort.
Intensifying Cape can be sold on the AH.
Summoner's Cape has enmity- and cannot be sold on the AH.

This comparison is like comparing Haubergeon to Haubergeon +1. Minimal difference, but the +1 has far more value. Similarly, the value of each of these capes depends... on what other jobs you have leveled besides SMN.

People pick Magnetic because of the combination of MP, hMP, Conserve MP and Spell Interruption on one slot. Similar to how people pick Etheral for the combination of HP, Attack, Evasion, and Damage Conversion (OMG Unique Stat!) on one slot.

They don't pick Magnetic for the hMP alone. Boroka Earring? Relaxing Earring? If that was the only factor in choosing earrings, people wouldn't be getting Magnetic. MP can be found on any number of earrings.

On that note, I'll make a political statement: People who choose Static or Hollow Earrings are idiots.

I actually love some of the items in assault :D The cape and neck armor for Lebros Cavern are hawt! Sure no emnity on the cape like the Errant/Mahatma Cape(sp) but would rather do assault than dish out a peacock charm worth of gil for them >< And having a new item other than Royal Guard's Collar for my drk is also great too

I think its one of the few times SE actually did something semi~smart lolz! They may not be the greatest items in the game, but defiantely some of the best alternates for certain slots are in here and just require patience and the like to get them

Not really. If I was ever bored enough to do the BC I would take the hollow simply because I have zero use for the others. What's wrong with +2 dex and +3 acc? It's a unique combination not found together on ANY earring. Don't you have a Tamas?

Still this argument has been played out before, get what is useful for your jobs.

Static earring increases my ePenis. Magnetic does not. Easy choice.

Moldavite and Novio would add more. GET TO SEA.

As for Hollow, doesn't Pixie earring have more DEX, and a hidden accuracy stat? And if that's not the case Epi, wouldn't Brutal/Suppa win out over swapping one of them for Hollow?

Pretty sure you'd want to go Novio/Static over Novio/Moldavite.

Pixie earring is plain old 3 dex. Brutal/Suppa is ultimate for all DW jobs (during TP gain phase)

As Aurik points out, Novio and Static would be better on a magic burst than Novio and Moldavite, so hush. As for get to sea, yeah, I'm trying, it's not easy when half your HNMLS has little to no interest in it.

Don't have suppa, and /nin isn't the only sub. There is no hidden stat with pixie besides a loss of 3 or more hours watching lightning elementals.

If you don't have suppa, you might as well not even participate in an epeen contest. And yes, nin is the only sub. It's written on the box that ridill comes in.

BST melee: (Assault or Suppa, depending on SJ) / Brutal
RDM melee: Suppa (for sword acc + att) / Brutal

Assault also costs gil, so I'll pick up a Hollow in a few months. 1/5 done with full pln as my next goal. BTW, damn I love ToAU, I'm working assault like a homeless guy at goodwill.

Besides food and meds (which you would have to spring for when doing CoP missions also), what costs gil in assault?

Ohhh, I see. The item Assault Earring, not earrings from assault. Two different things.

(Althought Assault Earring doesn't have to cost anything if you do the BCNM for it.)

Ah I misunderstood, thought you meant you were burning meds and so on to do Assault.
