I never really thought of the Fomor Paladin thing as a glitch. Player to player can behave the same way, if say a RDM wearing Crimson is casting cure on a DRG.

In the Fomor case the PLD's undead killer trait is kicking in. Silly but not really a glitch.

The right answers change--what works for one person may not work for another. I've been doing the troll version of this quest in a party. The first week, one member checked the Peculiar Bud (was it the Bud or something else that spawns near the ??? ?) before we fought, and ended up getting both answers correct: WS from certain angle and a certain scent. The rest of us guessed and either got 0 or 1 correct. Last week we did this again (but didn't find the Peculiar Bud before we popped the NM) and all selected the two answers that worked the previous week. We all got 1/2 correct.

That sucks since I can solo the troll nm. But too bad i cant ws or anything like that to find out the weakness. So just going to guess all the time. Oh well, something to do while soloing/mining.

Decided to bump this thread rather than make a new one. The choices for the Mamool Ja one are:

Choice: Landing after a fall
How to tell: Initimidated immediately after using Somersault Kick (unconfirmed)

Choice: A certain weaponskill
How to tell: Intimidated immediately after using Dancing Edge (Does the user of the WS have to have hate to be able to tell?)

Choice: A weaponskill from a certain angle
How to tell:

Choice: A certain irritant
How to tell:

Choice: A certain element
How to tell:

Choice: a weapon skill from a certain angle
How to tell:

I'd like to know specifically what the choices are for the other 2 types of beastmen, and how you've been able to determine that that was the right answer.

The way to tell ws from a certain angle is rotating around the mob before you do a ws, vs just doing a ws from the front. I got the mob intimidates 3 times right after i did an asuran while he was still at an angle from me (hard to do while soloing but definitely doable, remove extra things in macro or just do from menu). That answer was correct when I did it. So i think you need to test each option on the mob and the 'intimidate' is the key.

I know it changes from week to week. But the list of choices does NOT change. The only thing that changes is which answers are correct. That's why it would be useful to compile a list of all possible choices, and how you determine, for each choice, if it is the correct answer.

Were you directly behind him? 45 degrees clockwise from his face? 90 degrees clockwise from his face?

i was like 40-90 degrees, at most at his side, he was still rotating. I was monk so i don't have any special sleep bolts or anything to be able to get behind him. But yeah you can do it while soloing, it works.

Thanks, that's useful info :D For the spell of every element, does the caster need to have hate after the cast? If so, they'd need to use a nuke that can actually get hate from the NM, in which case it's a fairly strong nuke and going to kill the mob fairly quickly (e.g. not a lot of time to try other things).

What does an F8able target have to do with being irritable? I figured that choice was referring to a DoT spell like choke or burn.

I need to do the troll one again. The troll can use different puppets. I've seen the mage one and the ranger one. Maybe depending on which puppet it draws, it will always be the same choices for that puppet?

I don't remember the NM I popped having a puppet last time, but I could be wrong.

In my first time doing this quest, I went with a few friends to the Mamool Ja ??? and we started to beat it down. Eventually, someone had to recast shadows, and the second utsusemi was done casting, the mob was intimidated for a few solid turns. It died before the BLM could try all his elements, I hit WS from behind. Didn't pull him off the cliff though.

So we kinda blanked on what to tell the NPC. We thought that a certain irritant was gonna be correct cuz we didn't think utsusemi counted as "a certain element". We picked "certain element" as 2nd just cuz we blanked out and didn't know what to say. Turns out element was corrent, irritant wasn't.

Has anyone ever gotten both questions right? With only 1 correct answer I got 200 imperial standing. What's the reward for answering both correctly?

i did the mamool ja and had both answers correct, i was NIN (i popped) and had a BLM with me. i really didnt notice any intimidation the whole fight and used my good luck and gave following answers: WS from certain angle and the irritant thingy( i think its 4th option) and got the standing points and a ???-box

First time I did this with my wife and I chose answers first. Got one correct. I told her which one it was and she chose that one and then a different one, and got both correct. Reward was a ??? Box, that contained a Bloodwood Log.
