Smn avatars have this long period between like lvl 30-lvl 70 (I'm estimating since my smn is only 47), when their avatars' dmg is basically useless in xp pts. But after 70 they become ridiculously strong, and make great DD under many situations.

SMN is completely useless in xp pt. Although at 50 they get double slap which can out dmg regular melee if both slaps hit. o.O But yeah otherwise useless.

I think Pup will be better then drg because they're more customizable and have stoneskin.

Well smn have the advantage over pup atm since during those avatar weakness lvls they can make decent main healers (I actually like main healing as smn XD it's more interesting than whm), but ya dmg-wise they're useless, but when it comes to endgame that turns around...and I can only assume (and hope) that it'll be the same for pup.

but IF you have 250 skill from merits and maybe equipment, and you have MNK to 75, you might be able to use it. but that's a real big stretch and not how the job was designed.

Doesn't work. People have tried to get BRD Savage Blade by meritting sword and using sword skill+ gear (most of it is /RDM stuff) after learning it on another job. BRD doesn't get Savage Blade no matter what, so it's safe to assume PUP won't be able to get Asuran Fists.

/agree. Not everything is about hnming (I can only hope people will wise up to this). Thank god for things like Assault, Besieged, the Colliseum being created. I think SE tried REALLY hard this time to get people to stop being so (omg you have to sub this) or (omg don't lvl that it's useless for hnm). They gave us jobs that seem really versatile on the subjob thing, and are trying to give us tons of activities to do besides sitting around for three hours waiting for some big lizard to pop only to either a. lose claim or b. get the drops you wanted maybe once every 2-3 months day in day out.

well by "you", i don't mean everybody. but i do because i'm an overly analytical/logical person and i'm also an officer in an HNM LS. i don't have enough XP time to level a job to 75 that i never want to use for LS events.

and i think most (though not all) readers of these forums are involved in an HNM LS in one way or another. just giving people information to consider, people make their own choices.

Just wanted to point out as far as attachments, there is only 8 craftable and all accessable immediately. I believe there will be more parts and possibly even rare/ex nm drops for PUPs that will help their maton with att/acc etc. The current crafted ones also have low craft requirements, I wont be surprised to see ones 90+ in an update.

Hmm, I think it's interesting to consider how any job can be used at HNM, but personally its the last thing I considered when deciding what job to level next. For puppetmaster specifically, we really have no idea of how it can/will be used at HNM's (or other endgame activities) at all yet, and won't for a long while. Maybe it'll be useless? Maybe not.

except it'll have good stats like PLD AF and at 75 will be irreplacable by anything but AF2 which will have an even fruitier texture.

I think the easier way to get PUP strong would be the let the AtM and the PUP share bonuses. I mean like if the PUP has Atk food on the AtM gets the effect of the food, if the PUP has Ballad 2 the AtM gets the effect of Ballad 2.

Of course, AtM means Automaton, I just don't like typing out Auto or Maton.

Yeah, we seem to be missing some attachments. We need some level limited ones. Out of the three classes, Puppetmaster seems to get a lot early on. But little as time progresses.

The fact im sitting at 4/5, 3/5 etc on certain parts of my puppet also hint that there are a good amount of attachments not yet implemented.

Either way, for many people this job will be incredibly weak. On the otherhand, skilled players will be able to manipulate this job to serve many roles.

When I lvl'd MNK HNMs was the last thing I was thnking about, I thought the LS would always make me come on RDM (but I changed that) so I lvl'd it because I loved the job and it was fun (although hard to lvl).
