Knight's earring or Suppanomimi ?

Most people go with Suppa. It's just generally the most useful earring out there. My first job to 75 was PLD and I didn't bother with Knight's earring or Sattva ring. Bushinomimi for SAM (couldn't even wear it on SAM when I did DM) and Rajas as well.

I haven't played PLD for my LS in months, so maybe I'm a bit bias. I know a PLD who has both tank earring and ring from RotZ and CoP. Loves PLD and thats all he wants to be. Bless his soul for that. If you however will level something other then PLD (I.E. WAR or NIN or /NIN on anything) Suppa would most likely be a better choice for you.

True, but not every Paladin has access to Ethereal Earring. Hell, I have ZM finished and I'm on CoP8-1 and I already figure it's going to be another few months before I get there.

I'm fairly confident that PLD will be the only job I will ever play (LS schedule and RL just doesn't afford me the time to level another job to 75) so I'm happy with conentrating on PLD-only gear.

Calm down there kid. With the current gear out there, 5 Shield Skill in the long run now days is nothing. If you are ever going to level any other job, Suppanomimi is going to aid you alot more. Besides once you break 300 of any skill the returns are so diminishing on HNM that another +5 is pointless.

Somewhat disagree. For those who don't have shield capped, such as myself, the extra help is nice. That is short run. But in the long run, I think the +5 can help given the recent updates to shield. Giving up an earring slot for +2 enmity is questionable. If the +2 VIT, and +5 shield skill are enough to push your shield skill to a point where you are blocking more, and thus shedding less hate than +2 enmity would recoup, then why spend the 15M this earring costs? Hades+1 is situational at best (and obviously e-peen), especially on mobs where a staff is the still the preferred method for tanking and/or kiting.

If you are ever going to level any other job, Suppanomimi is going to aid you alot more.

Yeah I kinda regret not getting a Bushonimi or a Suppa, though in all fairness BRD was my first job and I had full intention of leveling BST after so I got the Beastly yayayay.

But now I use Ethereal and Brutal both for NIN anyway so eh to having any of the 5AA earrings.

I was 75 SAM only, picked Bushi, seemed like the only logical choice at the time. I regret everyday of my life when I log onto my 75 war/nin w/ e. body, ridill, etc, and don't see the +5 sword skill and enhanced dual wield.

In a similar situation, at the time CoP was ending, I was pretty much aiming to become a career PLD. So I picked Sattva. I hardly even use PLD now. Wheres my Rajas Ring for my WAR/NIN? I hate my life. And if the game wasn't so impossibly hard to re-equip the same items I have on another char, I would remake just to get a Rajas and Suppa...its probably still even worth it w/o a ridill on a new char. ////end emo.

Then there is Kinightly Earring, again that +5 Skill is not going to do anything drastic that warrants removing Cassie/Etheral/Hades+1/ect..

End Game tanking now days is about versitility. This is why most PLDs level WAR and NIN. Well and also those jobs are alot easier to merit than PLD.

I got my Suppa way back in the day... long before the Shield Patch, when everyone was still Earth Staff tank onry, and my only other job above 37 was my 50 something MNK.

Way I saw it, on HNMs I was using HP earrings, so I had no use for the Shield Skill, xp I was using DDish earrings, and in that regard I picked up Suppa for the Sword Skill.

I think your only real "mistake" was sattva. Bushi is a great earring (if you're not playing NIN or WAR main. Even pld/nin would benefit more from suppa in exp). You just have to look at what your main is now and pick accordingly. Or what your next main will be actually. I was main PLD, but knew my LS wasn't using PLD's much so equiping a job I wouldn't be playing was silly IMO

Eh, you're probably right, but I think it's still useful for gimp PLD like myself who could use the boost from uncapped shield skill. How certain are you that anything above 300 is negligible, because you could push that sucker real high with the following gear:

Gives you 323...but you also potentially Negate up to 130 additional HP from Gigant and Cassie Earring.

Honestly I thought about putting merits into shield but its a waste. Now if you are a carerr PLD, then by all means go for it, but if you ever level another job you are going to regret it.

And I have Suppa + Sattva <.< Don't regret my choice of Sattva at all, I still parse just about the same as my NIN buddies with Rajas (using Flame instead), though admittly the Subtle Blow for soloing would be nice ._.

You guys are forgetingt about Buckler earring which is +3 shield skill. i dont think 2 Shield skill and 2 VIT is worth the "Enhanced Dual weild" and Sword skill +5. The +5 divine Magic is lawlz.
