Actually a bst does fine for Limbus/Assault, and pretty damn useful for dynamis. It's also great for solo, farming, exploring, and can do reasonable damage as a DD for TP burn.
If your ls wants you to all events as another job, and you hate going to events as that other job, then leave the ls. Oh no! you might not get your adaman hauberk, but if your not enjoying the game then why the hell are you playing.

Hey hey hey, don't attack me. I'm a measley little BST who loves the job and plays it whenever he can.Originally Posted by epigram
I'm just pointing out that there is a LOT to be desired with the job. Yeah we do "all right" in TP burn parties and yeah we do "all right" for certain Limbus/Assaults. But dynamis? Don't kid yourself. CC doing bubble curtain for the 10th time and a rampage on the boss for 10 damage is not "useful." BST's damage modifier is way out of wack with that compared to a SAM, WAR or DRK. Yes, our pets are factored in to the damage but our only "pets" available* in Dynamis/Limbus/Assault/BCNMs/SoManyOtherThings is CourierCarrie.
I play the game because I enjoy the job. I post here because I know the job needs some work.
*topic officially derailed*
*Available - decently priced, uncapped at 75
Yeah my friends say there were getting 8K+ without BRD and some gimp melee. I should probably buy the expansion lol....Originally Posted by Krandor

CC/BST is great for a lot of utility applications.

That's quite a stretch...thinking that most dynamis leaders have brains and creativity. Most people want to go with "what works" and having BSTs pull mobs in dynamis (although I'm well aware it could be done) just doesn't seem to be on anybody's listOriginally Posted by epigram
Actually, using BST for a pull sounds really nice. Even just for normal pulls. If you link more mobs than normal, the pet dies first and gives a chance for people to react, instead of the puller dying right away.Originally Posted by Sarchar
Sounds like BST could be quite useful in Dynamis, moreso than other jobs. I hate linkshells who use a THF to pull in Dynamis, it's the stupidest thing ever. You sacrafice drops.Use a NIN to pull or something, they don't do anything in there anyway. (Don't tell me they provoke mobs, you're only useful if you can hold hate on 2-3 at a time without dying)
Yeah I've done it too, it's quite a bit of fun. But then what?Big pic of BSTs+SMNs killing tiamat
BST is an absolutely horrible job at the things that require days and days of time investment (read: Sea, Sky).
The fact is BST>Tiamat would not be possible without those Antlions. CourierCarrie just isn't good enough. You're essentially weakened by being in certain zones and I think that's a fault. Whether you agree or not that's up to you.
Honestly, every job has its time and place. Some jobs moreso than others. Some jobs lessso than others--one of these "less-so ones" is BST.
BST/NIN makes for a great dynamis puller. Not arguing about that. In Dynamis, though, I WILL argue that Bst does not make a great DD. In fact, it makes a completely worthless and pathetic DD in Dynamis.Originally Posted by WizerdRemora
Sorry, from my experience I can strongly say that I do not agree with you. Carrie Is very decent for wyrms and has a fair amount of HP to last a while if you balance out the load. Have you ever done jormn? You're forced to only use carries.Originally Posted by Sarchar

Stop talking about BST and get back to the funny plz![]()
Although I disagree with a thing or two the OP stated as fact in his "this is how a thf works rant" the general idea is right on the money he just went about it a bit wrong.
Look past the rant and pick up the finer details of the job and what can make it a very good one. Pimped thf who knows how to get the most out of his job will beat any other above avg job in the game in a merit pt hands down. Never will it beat a really good mnk/war or even a pimped out ninja(although Ive come within 1-2% of the best one ive seen).
Idea is: stop whining and go grab a buttload of merits and grab full heca/homam/dragon harness/blau dolch and you will smoke any avg player on the server.
So, BSTS, about that HQ antlion jug, I've heard its pretty good.
all CoP jugpet HQ pwn, but are stupid.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin

- Lasts for a grand whopping 15 minutes!
So Carrie, despite him capping lower, is better on the budget:efficiency ratio. The NQ jugpets all cap in the 50's, are useless for endgame but useful for low level BCNM, however you can usually get a stack of carries for the price of 2 of the NQ jugpets, in other words...
Carrie > CoP
I thought DEs modifier was DEX and CHR? But most people just pack on the DEX since they use Shark Bite sometimes and usually stack with SA.
Or does STR override the DEX modifier with the attack it adds?
EDIT: How the hell do you fit a STR+Attack, DEX and AGI set into your invent :\ Not to mention you should have some haste stuff, acc stuff etc.
Couldn't have said it better. CoP tried to improve in the Jug Pet department but failed miserably. The lv104 cooking really means that those jug pets can be as much as 100k/per...and people want us to use these in burn pts? No, thanks.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
