Looks like Bhaflau Thickets to me. No clue where if it is.

There is a "Dark Rider horse hoof print", something like that, at D-10 in Thickets. I think its used in a quest however it still may be related.

Edit: I passed by this spot again just hoping maybe he was standing there, which he wasnt, not only that though but the hoof print I mentioned wasnt either. Im certain of where I marked it on the map so maybe it spawns around the map like a ??? or it only shows up during moon phase/ day / night circumstances. Also when I checked it before it simply gave me the "nothing out of the ordinary" line.

Horse or not in FF, odin/darkrider/idcwhoitis would look really stupid and gay on a chocobo no matter how badass his model, unless the chocobo was like black or dead or something... on fire or something even. FFXI's chocobo model looks to nice and cuddly for odin to be riding it, mythology or not.

all this stuff said, why would they make an avatar and then put out an NM that looks exactly like the avatar but isnt an avatar? None of the other avatars have a mob/NM that uses that model and isnt at least a representation of the avatar.
