i replied to one of those million threads and it got locked, hopefully not cause i wrote in it but if so, don't lock this one!

if anyone who went remembers this, at the igames texas q&a random audience members got to ask questions. just when you thought questions like

Audience: Stroper Chyme is a normal monster, not an NM, so why is it wrong to charm it?

That's why GMs will often ask players to release the monster if they are only holding it to keep it from other players. It's definitely less of an issue now that the item it drops is EX.

Audience: Players can go into monster's cities (Davoi, Giddeus, etc.) but why don't the monsters ever come into the player cities and attack? Maybe once a month have a type of event where players have to return home to defend their city.

and the height of disappointment was achieved. i don't know exactly what besieged is and i definitely don't know if it's connected to this, but i seriously hope that whatever this thing everyone is saying sucks now wasn't sparked from that.

if so, you've got 13 year old cosplayers who don't play the game more than 5 hours a week making huge design decisions. that would suck

i'm not complaining about the content, i don't even know what it is like i said. all i'm pointing out how retarded it is to use the brainchild of some random person, or ANY random person - if they implemented my ideas just because i said them, i'd have WAY too much more power over the game than i should - because the other random newbies applaud at it

people who post at allakhazam are exactly the people who are concerned about insignificant things like why stroper chyme can't be charmed instead of actual game mechanics and content

It's hardly the brainchild of anyone, if anything it's THEIR OWN brainchild. Everyone, since the beggining when FFXI started, wanted to see the same thing happen as they saw in the opening movie where monsters invaded the city. Your little quote wasnt the first time people suggested it, many suggested it a while ago and then we got dynamis, was suggested again and now this.

It's not 1 persons suggestion, and it's hardly anything breakthrough. I suggested new jugpets a while back and they were added in, others suggested new bard songs and we'll see them being added soon, I dont know of any other mmo devs who still listen, even if it seems they werent.

Also suggesting features isnt new either, POL > Suggestions , it works.

and yeah i wouldn't be surprised if they already had something like this in mind, and when the guy mentioned it the japanese designer dude gave that vague "that's interesting" reply to it just in an attempt not to leak it

all i've heard is from people in my wow guild who keep up with or even still play ffxi that a lot of people are complaining these are pretty lame. this seems to be the consensus on the forums too. i'm just trying to show a possible reason that this thing sucks, not claiming anything more or anything about the besieged concept itself

It was lamer last week when it took forever for them to build forces. However much to everyones surprize they improved besieged in like a week. Give it another week or so and they'll up the monster levels or amount. Square is gasp actually caring about their player base now.

i do think they should take the opinions of an angry mob into consideration though, that's usually all that influences most devs who listen period
