I agree with you, but for the sake of peace (and my Linkpearl) I just shut up. I said one time I didn't like LTTP, and was thoroughly cut down. I've enjoyed 1 Zelda game (which was the first I played) and didn't like any others.

Yes the story is very similar in all cases, but when you break down most RPG games, its the same forumal of "save the world". I'm not some fanatical fan-boy but I think you underestimate the series. Its worked for 20 years for a reason: Its the combination of a classic good vs evil struggle combined with good and smooth gameplay.

I've got to agree. Most RPGs you get a hero, some helpers, and something happens where the big bad guy is going to take over the world unless you do something to save it! That's just how they are, past, present, and most likely future. Why? Because it works! No one wants the world to end

personally, my favorite games have been like Gothic and Gothic II on PC. Elder scrolls series is good for how open ended it is but story in the games have been "eh". NWN was fun. Hmm.. Xenogears was great (until the second disc when the gameplay went down to very little). And I really like tactical RPGs like Disgaea and such.

Edit: I'd like to clarify, I do find Zelda (and other Nintendo products) fun to play once in awhile but I don't think that they are gods gift to man or anything nor do I think that they (or any game for that matter) should not be joked about. I love when games that are serious or even jokes in themselves are teased at (one reason I like VG Cats and Penny Arcade so much).
