I liked FF9 too, but the last boss was pretty random.

Although I must admit, the last time I played through that game, I had the BEST end fight ever with him. It was pretty amusing. I had rushed through the entire game; I was playing it mostly for the story, not to get every item and their mom. So naturally, when I got to the end, my characters were pretty low level still.

Well the fight is going all nice and dandy, then he does his southern cross move and wipes everyone out but Garnet. He also zombied a couple of the members, too, so phoenix downs wouldn't work, I had to use the holy water, THEN a feather. At this point I say ok, I give up and hope to get lucky by summoning Bahamut a few times. So I do this... three times... and Garnet is still easily standing. (btw if you named her Dagger, you're a fag) So I say why the fuck not, and start raising everyone. Somehow I manage to pull it off and get everyone back on their feet. Another few minutes down the fight, he uses southern cross again. This time it wipes everyone but Freya, but it put her into berserk AND zombied her. The problem is that she has auto-regen on so she's auto-dying.

At this point I put the controller down (couple friends are watching) on the floor and just cheer her on. I won 3 hits later, and ONLY because he missed on one of his attacks. Best.fight.ever.

Yeah, 1st time I beat it, I was level 51 on Zidane. 50 on Garnet. And everyone else was around 46.

I quit FF9 because of the fucking cheap move that made me wipe instantly, I dont know how far I am near the end but here's what happened :

-Got all the way to the end of some castle with my lvl49/50something party
-Some crap with Kuja, he summoned a white dragon, the dragon went first and 1 shotted my entire party with some move
- Game over.


If a game lets me get that far with my current levels, then 1 shots me with no save points nearby, fuck that. I'll play something worth while.
Im tempted to load it back up and finish it, it's the only FF of the playstation series I havent finished yet.

I assume you're talking about the last alternative boss, Ozma. You could beat him with a lv 1 party if you had the right gear but you can wipe with all lv 99 chars too. He actually has a pattern to his attacks but at first glace it just looks like he's pulling stuff out his ass

level 1 party? or are you just exaggerating? I know you don't need maxed out chars but yeah...is there a trick I'm missing?

FF9 was fan service, plain and simple...and a damn good version of fan service in my opinion.

My favorite of the PS FF's, though the final boss was random as hell.
