I don't think that Maat is named after the Pheronic god Ma'at. They have no problems putting apostrophes in people's names, also Ma'at is female. (The only mythology in the game where they got the gender wrong is Phoenix, but it is a common misconception that Phoenix is female.)

You make it seem they got it 'wrong' by accident. FF avatars/summons/anything are different than their real life counterpart. It's not 'ripping off' / stealing unless the stuff is copyrighted. If anything of that kind, it is a tribute or a throw-back.
