Did Republicans still not get the joke when they invited him to talk at the dinner?
It seems like it was the most overlooked thing this year, that Colbert is mocking, not agreeing w/ them every day of the week on TV.
You can find the video of the entire event on http://www.cspan.org Its the Press dinner video. He's somewhere after the hour mark, I forget where.
1:06 is when it starts
hes lucky he hasn't been deported or something rofl...
And I was pissed at Stewart for a long time after Crossfire, he basically got the show cancled. I actually enjoyed it =(
and thats The Word....Originally Posted by Xavier
I'm not so sure that's who he was invited by actually. Truth be told I'm not paying a whole lot of attention to this but this was the White House Press Corps dinner, so I would assume it was in fact the WHPC that invited him. Who knows.Originally Posted by Xavier
Ksandra, to avoid a runaround - they may not have expected that but political talk show != formal function.
Regardless of all this though, I just personally didn't find the thing engaging or funny. Mostly because it's the same crap I hear all day everyday. There were parts I had a good chuckle at, like the volume knob and the Scalia portion - and others that were just stupid, shallow portrayals of the real world. All in all I fail to see what all the buzz is about, but that's just me.
Yeah I guess some people don't realize this, but Colbert's show is suppose to be a direct satire of The O'Reilly Factor on FOX.
Here is an example of a classic O'Reilly interview.

Come on seriously, to laugh AT the president when he's 5 feet from you is an accomplishment.
I'm sure Jon Stewart would've done the same thing, a true pioneer in politic comedy.
Ugh, they took it down ><
Can anyone find another version?

That was awesome. Can't say I have any idea who Stephen Colbert is but anyone with the balls to stand up and say what he believes in so close to the president deserves a lot of respect. I was almost expecting him to be "encouraged off" a few times but, truth be told, I can't help but wonder if Bush even understood half the jokes.
Shame the videos were a little out of sync though.
He is just lucky Dick Cheney was not there.. or was he? Seriously Cheney would have melted him with lasers from his eyes.. or if he was alerted of this Cheney would have force choked Colbert from miles away. Most of what Colbert said, Bush has heard before... hell we all have heard it before. Yeah it was ballsy thats for sure to say it to his face like that.Originally Posted by Russta
I just think it's hilarious that all these people who come on this show think that he's a conservative.
