Everyone risked alot for D-Day to happen. Sure, the French along with many other European countries helped bring about D-Day, but which country had the most troups invading German occupied areas? I'll give you a guess...the Americans. The Brittish along with American and Canadian forces were the ones that risked their lives out in the battle fields and died in great amounts to get France (along with most of Europe) liberated from the Germans. Intelligence only goes so far, the rest can only be achieved with force.

If the roles were reversed and France was the one sitting across the ocean while the U.S. were being invaded I seriously doubt they would help out without something major happening to their country. No country wants to lose valuable lives in a conflict which they do not see a need to get involved in.

Btw, I know how alot of older french hate fast food places, but what did the PC ever do agianst you?

If the French truly were capable of handling the situation themselves and didn't need US help, how come their entire country was taken over in a matter of weeks(months? Been soooo long since I read about it all, and I know you aren't exactly saying that France didn't need US help.. but um..)

By the way, it's not like America is the only country to ever attack civilians(Japan in China and Korea, Germany in europe, Italyin Africa, Russia in um.. Russia and Eastern Europe, not to mention that ALL European powers involved in imperialism didn't quite treat their colonies too well...) and even then, the attacks were centered around factories producing war materials, things like that. Not alot of people support involvement in the middle east, I don't want anyone to die, I don't want our troops over there, but it's not like the US military just goes arround killing civilians, and you shouldn't say it like that either. I don't even know how Bush was elected/re-elected.

I really wish that the US had gotten involved in World War II as soon as it had started, it would have helped prevent millions of deaths, and I don't like how the reason why we entered it directly was because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. I say directly, because as you stated before, US was sending alot of materials, weapons, etc. to the Allies and such. US would have entered alot earlier, if it hadn't been for congress and politics.

As for dropping the two bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (chosen for the military operations going on there), normal bombings of Japan did more total damage and took more lives total than the two Atomic bombs did. Dropping them was more of a flaunt of power towards the Soviet Union.

Um, anyways.. noone is saying that Victory in Europe was owed only to the US, just that it wouldn't have happened without US involvement, and the cooperation of US, UK, USSR, and FR (Anyone else?
