I've been working on unlocking my coffinmaker (though mostly in the parties I've been in lol) but the +9 r.acc on the gun is nice. At lvl 75 I don't really miss my slugs that often unless I'm fighting mobs that have decently high evasion or evasion boosting skills like Mamools. I still lack 3 new pieces of gear but I'm beggining to wonder if leveling my rng sub will be worth it as much as I thought before.

I just hit 65 cor, and seeing my rng sub is 32 Ive been using it since 56 when I got slug shot. It adds a hell of a lot of damage in 5 minute spikes (conveiniant for chain 6), but only if you trust your tanks and healers. At 75, I just dont think the spike damage is that necessary or useful in merit parties, I cant see myself using it at all. The only possible think is maybe Kirin or KS99 type ranged attack stuff, in which case 32 will suffice think im gonna start subbing nin again rather than finish lvling it lol.

That's exactly how I feel too. I actually used my level 63 Corsair against Jailer of Prudence in the Black Mage party the other day and it was so amazing that I want it at 75 more than ever now. With four Black Mages and a Summoner, I was able to keep up a potential 5mp/tick Refresh and give them Magic Attack Bonus of my own while they collected Dream Shroud and Earthen Ward. Switch in a Red Mage and you can replace collective Refresh for Magic Accuracy potentially adding even more damage from today's job of choice. Like you said, there's no way in hell we're gonna be seriously firing at anything that isn't kited but access to Spirits Within to go with a Quick Draw every three minutes ironically makes us a really good replacement for Bard end game.

Yep, for sure. Especially in parties where bard is really only there for refresh and nothing else, and where there are other multiple bards already in the alliance, COR offers a hell of a lot more, really.

I went to Nidhogg as a 63COR, and was pretty impressed. It was both fortunate and unfortunate that we were extremely melee heavy on that day, to the point where I only had one blm to test on for the majority of the fight. But, with RDM and BLM in the pt, warlock + wizard rolls are disgustingly good for blm pts. I cant wait to try out puppet and beast rolls on wyrms, or drachen and evokers on kirin. Not to mention, the earth shot combined with elegy and slow seems to be fucking powerful, although I need to test further - Im not sure if the effect can be resisted, even if the damage is. Kind of like how bio 2 can do 10% 50% 100% like spells, but the atk down is static. Lets just say that that was among the simplest of nidhoggs I have ever faught, and that was with only 1 blm and the rest of the damage coming from melees.

Because I am totally not a tank and have no idea on attack speeds beyond "slow" and "fast" (read: elegy and not), I dont know if it was resisted or not, but he certainly seemed to attack damn slow.

partial resists (damage) still have the full effect of enhancing debuffs as far as I can tell. I've never done 0 damage so I can't comment on that.

By the way, wizard's gives up to 16MAB with an 11 and blm in PT (13 lucky). Magus works same way but for Magic def bonus.

Pet rolls are highly broken, typically doubling pred claw damage on end-game mobs.

And uh I sub whm to stuff at 75. With full merited marksmanship and Faith Torque cor gets around A+ skill so skillchains are doable at that point. When I'm done with merits I'll try /rng at HNM. I don't see slug shot ever being used end-game unless you need to sc with a scythe for some odd reason. Detonator has such high accuracy that I've hit 9/10 vs sky stuff while /whm and using only rings for r.acc.

burning in caederva or at mamook staging point, the only way you'll do near respectable damage is /rng. Once you get a buff cycle going, the melee will destroy anything you can find in 10seconds or less - with amnesia. That's 2 shots, if you're lucky. /nin is pretty useless there considering how fast everything dies. The only real use for /nin is vs mobs like weapons.

    on topic.
With dia2 and light shot, I was slugging flies for around 1k (sushi). Without dia+light I average 700, high end 850 (sushi). Using subs I get around 950 without dia. This is all with a matchlock gun because I still dont have my coffinmaker and I refuse to pay 500k for a corsair's gun and am too lazy and uninterested to get one synthed.

A couple of other posts Ive seen from 75COR's are saying go with a melee setup for tp dual weilding Joytoy and another low delay sword or dagger, and backing up for Slugs. I can see that working better than even /cor, considering barrage is only once every 5 minutes.

    Edit: meant /rng, obviously

Tried that. I have capped dagger merits and a love torque and it was still shitty (heart snatcher + joyeuse). I hit stuff for like 150per shot, the melee adds up to around 110 in the same delay and the TP build seems slower.

I guess I'll give it another shot and parse to be sure but barrage and basically an extra slug per 5mins is definately going to outdo it by a long shot. Not to mention that without a trailer's kukri, beater's earring, gun belt and 2 ranged accuracy bonuses, you'll be missing a ton of slugs. That is, unless you're macroing in a faith torque and have capped out marksmanship. If that were the case, I can't see anything (sj-wise) ever doing better damage than /rng with meat/non-sushi and a vulcan's staff.

edit: uh ya keep in mind this is with a gimp ass level 56 gun.
