lolol @ locke, I bet I could out-DD a WAR on DRK/WAR but I'd have to pull out soul eater and that means cure bombing which in turn means no MP mages which results in slower chains and overall probably not worth it.

I think DRK/NIN stunning whirl of rage was the only useful thing we could do in merit PTs but now that BLU can do more damage AND headbutt gay AoE moves, DRK to me is dead.

One important thing to also keep in mind XPing on Trolls is that WAR/NINs have a significant portion of their damage absorbed by Diamondhide due to Double Attack/Dual Wield, whereas slower weapons will not lose so much of their parse to it.

I think what he is trying to say is that by the time a 528 delay scythe hits the mob the dual wielders have had their faster hits remove diamond hide's stoneskin effect. I think.

Diamondhide. A warrior swings more often then a DRK will, taking down more of the Stoneskin buff then a DRK will. This will show up as zero according to any parse, when Warrior DoT is still somewhat important to their overall damage. DRK's are not hit as significantly by this due to high WS damage being a part of their parse, and taking less swings for zero during Diamondhide then a Warrior will.

Of course you will generally have one to two people that will WS through the Stoneskin. But it is just interesting to note how that buff will overall mess with the parse. I was in a two NIN setup there earlier last week, having one of the Ninjas hold Blade: Jin while other people WS'd through Diamondhide easilly put him 3% ahead of of the WAR/NIN (who was the second highest DD).

At least those have been my experiences parsing on trolls. DRK/WAR have been closer %wise to the other typically "uber" jobs on Trolls then, outside of the Mamool Ja Staging Point for example.

If the DRK swings once while diamondhide is up, he gets more overall damage zeroed out. That makes up for the fact that faster-attacking people have more likelihood of hitting the hide.

Over time, the amount of damage lost to diamondhide should be proportional to the amount of damage they are dealing in the party, minus WSing spike damage.

Well DRKs wsDmg/totalDmg ratio is different to WARs so if no one use weaponskills during Diamondhide (I'm not familiar with Diamondhide so don't know if this is the case) the WARs should lose more damage.

That's making a pretty big assumption; rampage hits pretty hard.

Yes a drk(my brother) out damaged war with ridil
god even almost every mnk I pt with out damage a war with ridil dunno what all the fuss about war+ridil unless wars at my server sucks or something lol (have to admit something here though the war with the ridil was tanking like 40% of the time which should have lowered his damage a bit)

Sorry, but that war must have sucked despite having ridill. There's no way a drk/war can beat a decked-out ridill war on xp mobs. I have just about the best scythe build possible and I don't come close to beating similarly-equipped ridill wars. In fact, my own drk/nin build using maneater and ridill out-parses my drk/war scythe build 90% of the time and I have fully-merited scythe and no merits in axe or sword (I haven't done a comparison specifically on trolls, but usually this is the case). I love drk despite all the negative attention it recieves, but part of being a good drk is understanding your limitations imo. Here the limitation isn't necesarily inherent in the job, but in the available equipment. There's no 2-handed weapon that even comes remotely close to ridill's dps, there isn't even a scythe with nice stat boots like maneater or juggernaught. The equipment that would be necessary to bring drk/war's damage up to par with a ridill war just isn't there.

Guillo hits harder, as a DRK/WAR my average in the party I am currently in my guillos are averaging 850ish (my parser broke) and the WAR's rampages are averaging 600.

600 average on WSs is something you'll see a NIN doing, WARs with Rampage averages that low must really blow chunks
