    Help me out!

So for some reason my mic decides that it wants to fuck up. When I get on TeamSpeak, I have the settings on voice activation. Anyways, the problem is that the sound output from my headphones seems to be directly going into the input. This means that people are getting massive echo because their voice coming from my headphones goes right back to them.

I didn't change any settings that would cause this, but apparently my brother, who uses Ventrilo, made some changes in Ventrilo. Anyone have an idea of what the cause could be? I don't think it's a problem directly related to the mic (probably settings).

go to sound volumes and mute your microphone.

That might help ^^;; Happens to me all the time.

Or maybe change your input and output devices. there might be a conflict.

Trial and error, i'm sure you'll fix it

Hmm, I now know for a fact what the problem is. My sound output (the stuff I can hear) is being fed directly into the voice input (my music can be heard by others). My own voice cannot be detected, but when I ran a test, the mic detected input when other people on Team Speak were talking. All the cords are hooked in the right places, etc. Muting my mic does absolutely nothing, people can still hear me (by me, I mean the sound on my end, not my voice).

You have the "What U Hear" option selected in your recording properties for Windows.

Hmm... I haven't even seen that setting, and I've looked around a lot. Where is it?

Double click your sound icon, go to Options> Properties, click the Recording button, it will show a list of inputs. Hit OK and see what's checked off/turned up.

ok, go to sound recorder and test ur mic there.

If you hear your voice fine, then it's your setting in Ventrilo/TS that needs tweaking.

btw i've never heard of "what you hear" lol.
