I generally refuse to use a powerlevel; I find it inhibits my ability to learn the ins-and-outs job. For example, if you level 0-30+ as a BLU/WAR in a 3-man party with a powerlevel, do you learn about how much enmity your abilities do? Do you learn about how to work together with a tank, with other melees, with the backline support? No, you learn how to maximize your damage output in a hypothetical world where damage you take and debuffs you suffer are irrelevant. And then you get to 50+ and you suck donkey balls because you never learned how to work in a party. /cue BLM 50->75 in manaburn picture.

Of course if I don't care about a job and merely am capping it as a SJ (*cough rdm*) I'll spam miratetes memoirs and whatnot just to get it done. While I very rarely ask friends for PL help, I will devour 100k+ of medicines Gil-fuelled self-powerlevel gogo!

I get "no effects" on slowed mobs, so it seems they don't, but since 99% of RDM don't know how slow works and don't use +MND gear, Sprout Smack will give you a better slow.

I use Miratete's Memoirs to get from 20 to 25 on THF- I can honestly say that it did not hurt me all that much as a player. I learned in the dunes that the Sneak Attack sound makes your tank run around the mob clockwise, 5 more levels of that in Qufim certainly was not going to enforce that lesson harder. :D

Edit- Having 100 cooking is great when you solo lower levels. Pear and Pamama Au Laits are powerlevelers in a bottle.

That's why I sub nin on monk actually, so I don't take huge damage when pulling hate. I learned that from leveling other jobs to 75 tho, and from getting smacked in the face as monk in the 50's and not liking it I still use counter whenever its up though, because countering when casting Ichi is hawt shit.
