Gonna have to wait for it, as it just ended. Sony's press conference is on stream now though, so Nintendo's will be in just a little bit most likely.Originally Posted by Maguspk
If I am right, isnt sony's "motion sensor" nothing but a tilt feature?
Nintendo's motion sensor is vastly superior, as the controller is designed around this , as opposed to playstation "sticky tape a motion sensor on the top" thing?
Also was the hidden thing the speaker inside the controller? I think that was quite awesome, seeing how you can hear how far you pulled links bow and arrow, depending how the stretching out sounds.
Although FFXIII and MGS4 are gonna make me get a PS3 someday (after price falls), I'm pretty much sold on waiting for hours on launch day, standing in line for a Wii.
Of everything I've seen, this seems the only truly next-gen console.
The one with the most gaming potential is truly next gen, that and whatever has my favourite games on it... To be honest, none of the games that are coming out on Wii excite me, but some PS3 titles make me wanna cum thinking about it (KH3, FFXII, MGS3, DMC4, possibly Star Ocean, Suikoden and NIS games as well).
Although I don't doubt they'll get some good games out, some of the current games seem... lame...
And by current I mean release titles (and stuff I've seen)
Yeah, I'm interested in most of those franchises too (although Suikoden hasn't been good since the first two), but I doubt they'll really do much to innovate.
After the 3-D consoles came out, there really hasn't been any large progress as far as gameplay goes. Online gaming, maybe, but otherwise it's just been better graphics with higher FPS. At least the Wii is doing something new.

The first image of the Wii's Classic Controller have appeared on Nintendo of Japan's Web site. Features of the controller include the following:
* a, b, X, Y, L, R, ZR and ZL buttons (the L and R buttons are analog)
* Cross pad
* L and R analog sticks
* Minus (-)/Select button
* Home button
* Plus (+)/Start button
I totally agree with you on the 2nd paragraph, I'm not gonna say much about the control until it comes out and is tested, but one of the main points I made was about it possibly physically exhausting. Personally I can swing around a remote control for hours if I'm having fun (and believe, I have) but a lot of people might get tired of playing certain games, and I imagine a lot of the magic is lost switching back to a normal control because you get tired every 15 minutes. That and most casual gamers have a short attention span so that + getting tired = not good.Originally Posted by Alina
But still, wait and see, I'd love nothing more than swinging a sword around with little risk of breaking something, hurting myself, hurting someone else or thrashing my room, although 2+ people using the controller close to one another could spell pain (and problems for familys with young(er) kids).
Edit: also, you should try Suikoden 5, I'm loving it right now, it's worth renting at least, SUIKODEN IS BACK *creams pants*
I'm sold on the Wii, just read gamespots comments on the press event.
Not paying $600 for a PS3, even if it means I don't get to play MGS4, I'll live w/ it.
And yeah, the PS3 controller "tilt-functionality" is just a rip-off, its nowhere close to the functionality of the Wii controller, and on top of that they ditched the vibration in the controller, which Nintendo did not.
Admittedly I liked life a lot more when I was an ignorant sony fanboy, the more the know you more it pains you to see how lame and weak a company can be, but I still have a little left in me, I will buy a PS3, at £600 if it doesn't get any cheaper (I imagine it will) just cause I'm a sucker for said games, but I'll get a Wii as well, when the time is right.Originally Posted by Xavier
If only Mario wasn't Nintendo, I'd so be in love with it, fucking fatass plumber.
you know.. this stupidity of nintendo fanboys is impressive. MOTION SENSORY WAS NOT CREATED BY NINTENDO!! IT'S BEEN AROUND FOR LONGER THAN WII WAS EVEN CONSIDERED!! Jesus fucking christ.Originally Posted by GRT
That argument is old and you can't compare the functionality of the Wii controller with old attempts at Motion-based gameplay. Gtfo.Originally Posted by Elemmire
Maybe it wasn't created by Nintendo, but Nintendo is using the motion sensor capabilities to the max, and makes it seem realllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yy cool.
Look up for the controller used for classic controls...boo for derails!
Motion sensor isn't new, but if Nintendo wouldnt have made their controller that way, none of the new generation console would have something like that at the moment.
Innovation is a farcry compared to execution, what you do you gotta do right.
was just thinking about that earlier.... if i swing the wii remote like a sword when i play a game like dynasty warrior imma probably break my arm by the end of each 3 hour stage XDOriginally Posted by Elcura
I wonder what the X-box 360 developers are doing now at this moment.
Hey look Nintendo came up with a cool sensor thingy, OMFG Sony copied, and stole an existing Product.... chop-chop Bill Gates wants his own 360 super motion/vibration controller on market for Halo 3.
You know its gonna happen.
It's a business, people will spy, steal, copy, do anything possible to get the upperhand in a market. The problem is Nintendo should have stayed quiet and not released alot of the info of the Wii controler before E3.
My Game Informer gave me an assload of info of the controller before E3, for the game Red Steel. (1.5 month before E3)
I'll use a poker analogy (im so gonna get anologized by someone)
Nintendo showed there hand to quickly, Sony saw what Nintendo had done and quickly traded in 2 cards and grabbed a Staright to beat the 4 Kings Nintendo had.
How awesome would it have been, that they Introduce Wii at E3 and say "Oh we got this cool accessory, which will blow your mind" and continue from there.
Sony wouldn't have rushed/scrambled to do a 1-Up(keke)manship on the same style/push Nintendo is going for.
Im not a nintendo fan boy, never was, but Wii is a hella Cool idea, if I have the extra cash laying around after I get the 60GB PS3 I'll look into it.
Please $599.99 isn't soooo much for a video game system.
Stop complaining, when the PS2 ORIGINALYcame out it was $299.99 (hell Sony gave you a video game system + a dvd player in that bundle, while most DVD players back then were in the $300-$500 range).
Right now with the Blu-Ray technology in its infiancy and Blu-ray players running around the $1500.00 for the starter ones, you are getting 1 hell of a deal for the PS3.
PS3 release = November, it is May now, if you can put aside $100.00 monthly you will get to the $600.00 by the end of october.
I will be getting a PS3 (first day), I believe in Sony products, and I enjoy them and thats all that matters to me.
