--Vade, how were you in the industry? I'm curious :D
Maybe its been resolved by now, but arent there still two competing formats for the next-gen dvd? Like HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray? Similar to vhs vs beta way back when... It would be REAALLY funny if Sony made the ps3 more expensive in large part because of blu-ray if the market for movies ends up going the hd-dvd route. Sounds like capacity on blu-ray is bigger so probably better for gaming anyways, though I doubt 30 vs 50 gig capacity will matter for a couple years.
Imagine if everyone had bought a ps2 saying OMG DVD and a year later you couldnt find a movie on DVD cause they all came out on minidisc?
I'm sure Sony will pull through, theres only one app for the psp movie format and yet they still make those, but its still an interesting hypothetical in the console wars.
Edit: found an older article that explains the two formats http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages ... 29058.html
Just for everyone trying to say that Sony didn't "steal" the idea of a motion sensor controller (lol ok), I read this on nytimes.com

Nintendo showed their controller at TGS later in the fall, it was met at first with a bunch of "huh???", followed by "omgz this is a great idea." Nintendo scared them rofl.
i really don't get how some people treat game consoles like their mommies and daddies, i mean geeze, i hope sony "steals" EVERYTHING from x360 and wii, so that i have the ultimate system to play my games
you know what, actually i hope x360 would lose so bad that at the end of the day the only choise bill has left is to buy out sony and nintendo and make x360 the only game console on the market, so i don't have to buy 3 consoles to play all the games i want
don't you get it? when companies compete, "dirty" or not as people like to call it, CONSUMERS benefit (that's us players by the way)... can't believe how retarded fanboys can get
Used to work for EBGames...knew the regional and district managers so we got information pretty quickly. Only person I still know in the industry would be a beta tester for Vivendi Games.Originally Posted by Lbelle

Something interesting I read about the game, they're really going to be using the controller a lot. In order to do the kamehameha, you have to flick the controller backwards towards your chest while holding down the a button, keep it there for 10 seconds while chanting the words into the built in microphone on the controller (and since it'll be online, your opponent will be able to hear you and know to stop fighting and watch you charge up), and then fling your arms forward (controller in hand) towards the TV while releasing the a button to fire the blast. And once you've released the blast, you can use the controller to control its direction. All the while, you can keep moving w/ the nunchuk thumbstick if you're forced to dodge an attack.Originally Posted by Vade
Ok, thats total bullshit, I can't back that up. But it does sound like a game that could make use of the controller in a lot of ways.

Ahem, on that list, the only thing I saw (and remember 1min later) that interests me in RE, hopefully Capcom doesn't do anything stupid like go exclusive with RE, cause we all know how well that went!
It resulted in Resident Evil 4, the best game in the entire series =(Originally Posted by Elcura
Luckily they moved it to PS2 cause they needed the extra money (fk u exclusive) because they lost a shitload of money and nearly went bankrupt or something like that...Originally Posted by Xavier

SMASH BROS THREAD!
Oh yeah, so we got a trio of confirmed launch titles for Wii!
Mario Galaxies!
Metroid Prime: Corruption!
Zelda !
Holy shit holy shit, I just wet myself again, they're seriously making a sequel to Crystal Chronicles?
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers
Dude I fucking loved FF:CC so much, so many people dogged on it, but if you got 3 other friends together that game was the SHIT, it was so much fun. Holy shit they're making another one, I think I'm gonna pass out...![]()
It was ok but I didnt like the fact to play with 3 others, you needed 4 gameboys. So I played it 1 player and it sucked.Originally Posted by SilverBreeze
I played it three players and the game ruled! They are also making a version of FF:CC for DS.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
Nintendo are probably wetting their pant right now. Everyone thought they were dead a few years ago, and PlayStation was winning every popularity contest. I'm not sure if it's the DS vs psp, but it seem like they regained everyone trust.
I have to admit, I was prett much counting Nintendo out ever since they released Gamecube. I thought it was only a matter of time before they do like Sega and go software onry.
I am pleasantly surprised, and I have to give them props for turning it around.
Can't wait to play with my very own Wii.![]()
This game would have been infinately better if a player wasn't forced to carry that damn chalice. When you play solo the moogle carries it, how come he got all lazy if another player joined in? I usually played 2 player, and it was really annoying when you just walked around with the stupid thing. Other than that it was a good time.Originally Posted by SilverBreeze
