Denchi, you lazy ass, go check the ah and compare it to some recipe lists. How the fuck is anyone here going to know what it'll cost? A) We're not on your server, B) You could be some fucking moron who picks idiotic skill recipes and then npcs it all. Kinda like people who ask on forums how much it will cost to lvl a craft to 100. Oh wait.

I say you should go level cooking or alchemy to 60 first for practice. You will save money in the long run because you will know what the hell you are doing when it comes time to take up an expensive craft.

Level 53 bonecraft now. I was outta town for 3 weeks... and am still pretty busy. But after hitting 50 I can't really skill up worth crap. I made Scorpion arrowheads till 52, then a combination of arrowheads, beetle knives and scorpion rings until I hit 53 like 100 synths later. Kinda ridiculous. I'm getting fed up and starting my leather sub.

Any tips for leveling 50+ Or does it just suck ass in general? I heard somewhere that after 50 it usually goes about 1/4 synths is a skill up. But I was going like 1/15, but I also wasn't really breaking anything either. Crafting is weird.

i've only taken my crafts to 60 (waiting to decide on what should be my main on my main...) but 1/4 for skillups post-50 doesn't seem right at all to me. it does get worse after 50, definately more scarce than 1/4 (from my experience anyway, which i agree isn't much experience)

1/4 is pretty good, sometimes I've gone 1/30 in the past levelling subs

Actually I've noticed on 5 crafts now that 51 is the brick wall..I've always rushed through 50 just fine.

:-/ 50->51 took me a lot of synths just a week ago on scorpion arrows. But then that may be because I was breaking 50% w/o chance to skill up.

Last night I went 2/30 on skillups from 53->53.3, fk ya I still got my mad crafting skills.

SE needs to fixxxxxx it. 50->60 shouldn't have a lower skill up rate than 60->100. -.-

post 50 i can't craft past maybe 6 level-gap tops, i just can't fucking stand it. skillups are hard enough below 5, let alone when you're required to succeed.

99-100 was by far my quickest level in the 90's (synth-wise), i don't think that should happen

Crafting past 6 level gaps isn't bad if you have support *and* a GP item or two. Just make sure you're within 3 of the cap with support and items.

99-100 took me a few on bonecraft... but my 90->92 in woodworking, 90->99 in bonecraft, 90->98 in leather, and 90->98 (of the synths I did on my girlfriend's char) in clothcraft were all quicker than any previous 60->90 encounters I'd had.

Works for me, I could use a skill up break after pouring all that gil into 60->90 4 times (well ok, 3.5 since gold is only 80.9 still).

wow @ the people that got bonecraft to 100 on a few mil im 72 and have spent 10mil to date and thats taking it easy (buying cheap items only) I level bonecraft really slow I power craft a week then take like 2 months off and do it again [when I have the money] I have absolutly no idea how u did that but that is unbeleavably skillful to get to 100 that cheaply..

as far as profit goes @ 72.. meeeeh.... unless u have leather up there its going to be a bit slow I do some black perls here and there for some really good profit (when I am lucky @@

Power leveling is always net loss. I leveled leather to 71 with net profit and started with about 250k. I spent about 2mil on bone and took it to 92.

Leather though without doubt is the cheapest craft besides cooking to get to 70 though. This is simply because there are no HQ's for hides so you can always synth a few extra stacks and make back your loss. I don't remember what was 70+ skill up though, I think it was a bunch of courel/ogre items then panzer masks.

I disagree; I think alchemy is the cheapest craft besides cooking to get to 70. Leathercraft has 2 major sinks (4->~15, 36->~49) whereas alchemy you only has the small gap between 28 and 30 where potions royally suck.

Cooking is "cheap" but it takes a lot more time than other crafts because you deal with 5+ component recipes a lot. More components means more shopping/running around. 95->100 on cooking was perhaps the 3rd most draining experience I've ever had in this game, behind camping the AH for 3 days solid for raxa to go 98->99 cloth, and camping the AH for 14 days solid for galateia to go 99.5->100 cloth.

PS. My woodworking mule is up by about 500k levelling 0->67, and that includes spending 500k for an airship pass and earning 100,000 GP. Once you figure out how to research effectively, it's not so hard to pay off the cost of levelling.

I've spent a few mil on bonecraft already getting it to 63. But that's my own fault and I know it. I've been NPCing or just tossing everything I make. I don't like to AH stuff because I have more important things to sell than my 7 Scorpion Masks, and I can't bazaar overnight or durning the day because I use my computer during the day (laptop, take it to school) and I turn my computer off at night (I'd like to keep the battery for longer than a few weeks)

Anyways, I think crafting is something you can spend a lot on, or practically nothing on, it's up to you. But if you wanna powerlevel and get to 100 ASAP, then you're gonna be spending a few mil to get there.

Question on Bonecraft: Demon Horns are almost never up on Ifrit AH (Jeuno or Windy) so I make Scorpion Masks when the shells are up. But it caps at 64 and I'm at 63, any ideas for my next synth? Or should I suck it up and just go farm demons? I looked at the recipe list and didn't really see anything I could try to make except maybe Beast Horns.

The only reason you should be buying demon horns is to skillup on demon arrowheads; those cap at 63, so you're done.

Desi suggested bone patas (68); those are really excellent, and they actually sell to GSers who are grinding on hydro patas.

Or, get bone purification and make vivi coral (71). This should sell decently fast, or you can save them and make rr gorgets.

Do RR stuff and welcome to the world of true FFXI undercutting although you will make a nice profit on them.
