    Maybe they added the tax to whitegate so the distribution of the population is spread evenly between the 2 zones instead of being a 700/100 ratio.

    Actually doesn't an NPC in Al Zahbi directly say the taxes there are cheaper than in Whitegate directly? It's an incentive to "win" besieged (lol)

    Uggh, I don't talk to NPCs. Just seems kinda strange...I guess its incentive for people to buy the expansion. Oh well, I dont get why 4 different AHes have the 2% tax, and only one doesnt.

    I may be wrong, but didn't the tavnazian AH to jeuno also have lower than normal taxes?

    I think SE also has admitted that the gil level in the system is decreasing; this is one way to ease up on taxes.

    I know I've probably saved over 1m gil by using the zahbi ah since AU launch.

    sorry if this is a noobish question, not playing ffxi currently. what happens to auctions if they are up and you lose the area? do they just get mailed back?
