i guess its so nobody can claim they're better than someone else through the online play system. fighting games require the utmost speed, and any type of lag on the player's side would ruin whatever you were trying to do (instead of fighting your opponent, you fight lag )

Playing online is all people really wanted, I think. A lot of people would have liked rankings, but the point of Online is to make it a truly multiplayer game. Odds are they'll allow team battles for two people on the same or different machines and other such things.

You cancelled the game because of an optional mode that you aren't forced to play, and because you don't want to get beaten? If you only want to play with half-sober friends who can barely hold the controller and thus have no concept of the game, thats still an option so I don't know why you'd toss the game away all together.

It slows down the game for everyone to match the person with the slowest connection, giving noone the advantage due to lag? <_< that's pretty fucking good imo.

Maybe I played too many online game, but I don't mind that so much anymore. Humiliating your oponent is half of the fun! 95% of the people are immature, but there is always some of them that figure creative way to do it, and this make online game more interesting. Kinda like my first Striker game online, when the other dude who was destroying me (10-1) and stopped a 6 goal holding his controller upside down. Something deep down inside me realized he was making fun of me.

Either way, I'm glad they added a way to say "rofl", "nice one", "you lucky sob" and "I drank more than you, thats why i lost". Should cover 95% of the situation where I need to talk to an online oponent.
