I expect him to be an unlockable..like completing adventure mode in a certain time limit(he's fast etc goes with the character? idk).

This...is bad.

Given:
The boxes will not get smaller
This isn't a demo with limited chars
There are only 31 total spaces to fit roster people.
Any character who was introduced with 'Warning! Challenger Approaching!' is assumed to be an unlockable character, not usable from the start.
So Sonic, Snake, Diddy Kong, Pokemon Trainer, Ike, and Lucas will require some sort of condition to be fulfilled.
The boxes CAN get smaller and it's obviously a demo with select characters. ;/
For those that doubt a return of Marth:

The newly-announced DS Fire Emblem game appears to be a remake of the very first Fire Emblem Famicom title, the game that originally introduced Marth. With him set to star as the headlining mascot of a new game once again, and one that will no doubt be localized and released in English, his chances of getting back into the Brawl look better than ever.
(If you even doubted his chances in the first place.)

That's all great & everything, but I don't see how that's relevant, considering you may as well cite all the previous nintendo games he's been in including melee. ;xOriginally Posted by Zetah
It doesn't make it any more likely.
Again, I must express my surpise that you even care.
How do you count 31? If it's true 22 are announced, so 9 are left.
Luigi, Falcon are probably given. Ganondorf and Falco are likely to be there as well. There might be 1 or 2 more pokemon (jigglypuff and mewtwo again?) Sheik could be one as well. For the rest, they were all clone, or they already have an equivalent in melee.
Toad and Waluigi might possibly be new character, leaving the place for 1 last secret character. >_>
Can't remember where, but I'm pretty sure it was confirmed to just be a demo. D:Originally Posted by Falconblade
Well, the only character that NEEDS to be added is falcone paunch....maybe Shiek too.
You don't get it. Marth is in a new game for Nintendo DS (a remake, but just as much of a remake as Metroid: Zero Mission and FF3 were), it's not just a "previous game." This means that Marth is still relevant to Nintendo today. Characters like Lucas, Ike, etc., secured themselves a spot due to their recent appearances in the respective series. Not only has Marth been around for a very long time, but he's still around in what will without a doubt be a successful game, especially with localization. Characters like Roy have virtually no chance of returning considering he were only a promotional character, with little relevance today since they never even bothered to try to localize the game he's in.Originally Posted by LD
Why the fuck wouldn't I care? He's my main character, as well as for many others, and high tier.
I agree with this statement. Ike may have a sword too, but I <3 Marth too much to seem him disappear. I require my 12 foot sword (as friends like to put it when I'm tearing into their ass with it) to kick some ass.Originally Posted by Zetah

No, I do get what you're saying, it's just ridiculous.
Being in a new game does not make his chances of getting into Brawl any better since, #1: being in a Nintendo game is what got him into melee, so he had already met that prerequisite, #2: being in melee is more relevant because it's THE SERIES WE'RE FUCKING TALKING ABOUT, and #3: due to 1 & 2, there's no real need to bring him back into the forefront, now that everyone finally knows who the hell he is. 95% of the people who unlocked Marth and/or Roy had no fucking clue who they were. If being in the last game in the series doesn't get him in, odds are some new game wont. That is why Marth being in a new game is completely irrelevant.
Further, it was stated that Ike was added for the sake of American players, not simply because it was a new title, but because it was the ONLY American FE release in years. So the average American would actually have a game to connect him to that wasn't part of an importer's wet dream.
Again. Again. Again, I have to say I don't get this obsession at all.
Big sword, Blue hair, anime pretty boy, same series (a series that seems to replace their main characters every 1 or 2 titles.)
Same guy, different name & outfit. Why do you fucking care? :/
because marth is prettier than ike, and clearly, the men on these boards prefer to spend their time looking at a pretty boy over a manly man
If they add anymore pokemon, I really hope they add Lucario instead of Mewtwo. He is so cool.Originally Posted by Kaylia

That's another popular one, I think he may have been on a poll with Sonic and placed pretty high.
No, having current relevence to Nintendo has a big impact. Saying that it does not is just looking for things to try to argue about. Do you earnestly believe that having relevence to today does not help one's chances of returning in a game at all, especially after he was already in the last game and was one of the most popular characters, not just fan-base wise, but also tournament wise? There are in fact reasons that people prefer using Marth other than just playing as a blue haired pretty boy. I believe you're smarter than to believe reasons to be so simple as that. Saying Ike is the same thing as Marth does not make sense to me. Looking purely at the play styles, there are obvious differences in how they move, jump, dash, and attack. Marth is the only character I feel comfortable playing competitively with aside from Falco. Marth's history with the series is major as well, which is why they'd even bother to remake a game with him in it and localize it, seeing the North American's positive reception to Marth. Taking him out now that everyone knows who he is and is now having another game? That doesn't make sense to me either.Originally Posted by LD
While there may be oddball appearances such as Pit and Ice Climbers (even Metaknight is fairly obscure), maintaining relevance today is still a large factor to consider when putting characters into the game. Wario, for instance, probably would not have made it into Brawl without the WarioWare games; they didn't even bother to include him in Super Smash Bros. or Super Smash Bros. Melee, despite already having multiple appearances and games, but it was with the WarioWare games that gained him much more attention. Wario's fanbase was finally built much more from that point on, and landed him a spot in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Don't really know any pokemon except for the obvious one. >_> I don't really care which one they add, as long Jigglypuff is back. It was my favorite character in brawl.Originally Posted by Scythiroth

I love Lucario, I have one in my wifi team actually, but I don't see how they're going to add another Pokemon. They basically have 5 in Brawl (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Squirtle, Ivysaur), since Jigglypuff being removed is waaay unlikely, and who knows what they're doing with Mewtwo. It'd be overkill to have 6.
Ok, does anyone want to address this yet? There's no real reason they wouldn't reuse all the previous characters to just pad the roster if nothing else. Why would they want to nix a character and possibly lose a sale because it was someone's favorite character? Shit makes no sense.Originally Posted by Hige on page 29

Not you, its not you at all, do not get the wrong idea.
Its that I KNOW I read an interview where Sakurai said something akin to "No Clones" and "Everything will be revealed by launch".
I just can't fucking find the source to back up the claim.
