Likely considering the number of people who played who were pros in SSBM and were intentionally trying to find things like that. Like I said, it either wasn't in the game at the preview or it won't be the in the game at all. I'd hope for the best and that it's an option to start as her because it'd really be a shame to limit it by an item only character form, but like I said, you shouldn't count on it. It's not unlikely that Nintendo would force players to use their new highlight item in order to get a certain character.
