One of the members of my old link shell was a GM. No joke, he showed himself to my friend and I once, his game name and GM name had just one letter difference. He was a cool guy and no longer plays/GMs anymore. But anyways, I remember talking to him around the time of this event two years ago and he said that the belts were awarded based on GM call number. It was kinda funny because he told me how some had figured that out and were making calls just to get their ratio up.

But I'm sure it's not like that any more, because Nynja would have received a Ridill +1 or something...

Maybe you were kidding, but someone might take you seriously. I got my silver moogle belt when I didn't have any GM calls (or maybe 1, don't remember for sure). Someone on this thread said they got both bronze and silver belts after a couple days of starting a lvl 1 character.
If it was based on GM calls, which I am pretty sure is not the case, if anything it would be the least calls get the better rewards, also because GMs and SE have in their best interest to have the least possible number of GM calls, and less support work for them.

Who knows now it's probably just plain out random or something. I was more or less just trying to make my little story into a jab at Nynja's GM addiction.
