Once every two hours, and for the duration of about 30 seconds, DRK is a pretty fucking good tank.

The funny part about this is that he was right and you think he was wrong.

You don't need blood weapon to tank things as DRK.

Technically Ninja wasn't "meant" to tanking either but we all know how that turned out.

DRK base defense is the same as WAR or NIN
DRK gets stun, bind, sleep for hate which recast timers can be reduced by haste gear/spell and march.

Horrid roar? Last Resort and Souleater ftw.

Add utsusemi, proper gear, and some tanking experience and you have a very viable tank on wyrms.

Of course NIN/DRK is the much more used counterpart to DRK/NIN as the NIN/DRK will 95% of the time be alot more used to tanking and still gets stun/bind/sleep but has to work with a smaller MP pool but mp regen is not a problem if alliance is setup right.

Sure, but all DRKs have both of those items anyway so it's a non issue.

Couldn't you pretty much argue for any job tanking with that attitude? Alot of jobs CAN do just about anything. Hell make a PLD sub WHM and with Auto-refresh he's a viable main healer, but noones gonna invite you as one, and in the end, he just doesnt do the job as well as other options.

I think one of the signs a thread dies is when people begin to reply debating that a Dark Knight is a "Tank" Job.

I remember the day when I found out that my RDM in full AF had higher defense than my one DRK friend who was 10 levels higher than me.

    Good times, good times.
