    Back in the day I remember watching a SAM melee Fafnir with a level 7 Sapara (hitting for 0 whenever he actually connected) doing Spirits Within every 3 minutes once Meditate was up as his sole form of damage <_<;

The best katanas are Fudo and Senjin (not counting relic.)
Best head is situational, either OHat, Walahra Turban, or Arhat's +1. or kabuto
Best body is Haub+1, Arhat+1, or Osode (which isnt AHable.)
Back is Boxer's or Cerb (which is a joke to AH currently) or Gigant
Neck is Hope Torque, a Gorget, or an Evasion Torque.
Hands is Koga Tekko for cheapasses and at night, Bandomusha Kote, and Yasha Tekko or dusk gloves
Waist is Ninurta's Sash (lol), Speed Belt, or Swift Belt
Ear is Brutal, Suppa, Ethereal, Hades+1 (lol hades wtf?) Eris+1
Ring would be Defending, Bomb Queen, Rajas, Shadow, Jelly
Feet would be Fuma Sune Ate and Ninja Kyahan+1
    pants would be haidate

Looks closer to half and halfish to me, if not heavy on the rare/ex side.
fixed a little. And am i the only person who likes byrnie+1?

Kind of slow since Aurik already changed most of those, but I guess he did forget to add Eris+1, I just use Hades+1 on my NIN since it's signed and I like the E-penis Blue Box, so that prolly threw Maxx's list off

    Genbu's Kabuto Sucks.

im taru so kabuto doesnt totally suck for me <.<
I just got my turban 2 days ago so I havent really been able to test it out on an HNM yet (I was one of the few who XP'd to get all of the IS)

And I need to do some parses (when I find an infinite flow of gil) to test out haub+1 byrnie+1 and togi. Osode will always have its place in my jin macro and walking around town though!

And they missed haidate... so I had to add that, + make some changes from what aurik said

I wasn't the one who brought up the 'best' arguement, I was just showing that Heian was talking out of his ass, he is who brought it up.
No I'm pretty sure I am right. Like I said I am not going to list what you wanted because I would be listing half the fucking AH for each job. Yes there is plenty of gear that is Rare/Ex is is the same if not slighty better, but that is the problem: The best gear off the AH is almost Identical performance wise as much of the gear you can get off HNM/popNM/BCNM/Quest.

    my WHM: AH equip
    8 staves (3 HQ)
    Hedgehog bomb
    Crow beret ah
Noble'sTunic + Errant body (other option alot of whm useis Blessed Briault)
    Blessed Trousers
    Blessed Pumps
Demon's Ring+1 (saving gil for Serene ring)
    Hierarch Belt
Rainbow Cape (or Hexerai depends on what I'm doing)
Holy Phial (saving points for that new Grandoise Chain)

    my WHM: non AH-able
    Magnetic Earring
Relaxing earring (working on locq ear, which isn't AH-able but you can still "buy" it)
    Tamas Ring
    Healer's Mitts+1

    --------------------------
    RDM: AH
    8 staves (3 HQ)
    Hedgehog bomb
    Errant Gloves
    Mahatma Slops
    Mahatma Pigaches
Demon's ring+1/Aqua ring (saving for serene ring)
    Hierarch belt/Pentiance rope
    Hexerei Cape (or rainbow)
    Enfeeble/elemental torque + Holy phial

    RDM: non-AH
    Duelist Chapeau
    Dalmatica
    Magnetic earring/Relaxing earring/Moldavite earring
Zenith Mitts (used when I rarely nuke)
    Tamas ring
Crimson Cuisses (this are for fun not really for "functionality")

    -------------------------
so for me yes damn near all my best equip for most slots is AH-able
then there is my 63 drg: (yeah I know lol...) but even for DRG damn near everything I have is AH-able from my scorpion harness to all my weapons/ my eventual dusk gloves and barone pieces of equip

only non-AH gear for drg really is AF2/Hectacomb/Crimson(who gives drg crimson lol?)/Homam and Assault Jerkin: at most I am looking towards having no more then 7-10 pieces of ra/ex on drg

and DRG is similiar in it's equip indevers as drk and thf

    PLD: non-AH
Koenig (which ever pieces you can get)
    AF
    bomb queen ring
did I miss anything? pld looks pretty much buy off the AH too~

God Forbid there might be 2 pieces of gear for NIN with the word Kabuto in them, or that he replied to me stating "Genbu's Kabuto" by pointing out it's a good option for Tarus due to their low HP.

    /shrug

My PLD uses a decent amount of AHable gear.

    Terra's Staff
    Dark Staff
    Macuwhatsis+1 (the Enmity+4 sword)
    Koenig Shield
    Harmonia's Torque
    Shield Torque
    Hades+1
    Hercules Ring
    High Breath Mantle
    Warwolf Belt
    Hierarch Belt

Some of these things could be replaced with R/E alternatives though (Fort Torque, Shadow Mantle, etc)

    whaaaat?

ok Weskit, Slops (Af2 better), rings (until you get tav, switch in JSE ring for latent), Uggy pendant/ele torque, and HQ staves.

Those are the only AHable items you should have.

AF2 Gloves and Zenith kill Igqira+1, Merciful Cape > Prism Cape, AF2 Boots and Rostrum are theonly thing you should wear for boots.
You kinda contradicted yourself here. You say that merciful > prism but don't bother to list nashira crackows as a feet option. I forgot to list zenith mitts, but they're sorta 50% AH 50% ra/ex. If you want to get technical I guess I could count wizard's gloves as another ra/ex item which I use.

    AH/bazaarable for BLM:

7x HQ staves, Phantom Tathlum, Republic Circlet, Igqira Tiara, Demon Helm +1, Ugly Pendant, Elemental Torque, Philomath Stole, Morion/Phantom +1, Weskit, Errant Body, Igqira Manillas, Snow Rings x2, Prism Cape, Penitent's Rope, Heirach Belt, Mahatma Slops, Igqira Lappas, Baron's Slops, Black Cloak, Novio.

    Ra/EX:
Sorcerers Petasos, Sabots, Coat, Gloves, Tonban. Wizards Petasos, Coat, Gloves, Tonban. Thunder/Ice/Dark Obis. Moldavite, Abyssal, Static. Tamas ring, rostrum pumps.

looks like the majority of endgame blm gear is found on the AH.
Ok so "most" of BLM stuff can be found on the AH, but if you want to be l33t, you need those rare/ex items

We also forgot to mention Spirit Essence (Solo ENM item) and also Sweet Sachet for Taru :D

Their gear is far from best. You use AH gear to fill in until you can get the 'best' stuff. The system works well. Its a mix, not your '95%'

One easy way to balance between crafters keeping the economy going and rewarding people for their hard work with Rare/EX items is to make more things like abjurations.

But it doesn't have to be exactly like abjurations. There could be an NPC somewhere who offers to make a pair of boots (for example) for you if you can get him/her some materials. He/she will also need a few pair of boots to use for material and as a pattern. One of the boots the NPC wants could be a Rare/EX drop from an NM or a quest reward, but the rest would be AH sellable. This way you could actually get some demand for otherwise useless items, people could skill up on new and different things.

Square needs to hire me; I would fix this game in less than a month.

All NPC's would turn into Subligar wearing Galkas.

Then they would fire you, and you'd have no job. Why do you think they keep getting it wrong? Dev team needs to eat.

I wouldn't change existing NPCs into subligar wearing Galkas.

    ...

But the next expansion would be named "Adventures on Galka Subligar Island"...
