It could be +hHP/hMP or resist/killer effectsOriginally Posted by Talis
You didn't happen to check HMP/HHP by taking off/putting on HP and MP gear then resting, did you? Not sure what else you coulda tested, but those might be helpful.Originally Posted by Talis
edit: GDI I'm posting slow today. ; ;
I'll admit I haven't been to the hostel, but do the temp foods give food bonuses? Maybe it's just there for the looks of it, and none of them give actual food bonuses.Originally Posted by Corrderio
Has anyone tried levelling up whichever NPC fellow gives you the herbal tea, and trading the Homemade Herbal Tea to the Scrawled Writing? The homemade food is similar to the Goblin Drink in that it also has minimal/useless stats. Eating either homemade food or goblin drink is like eating nothing at all, so at least they have that in common.
Firstly, do the other temp foods used in the Hostel effect your stats?
Drinks traditionally recover HP and MP. Look at HP/MP/TP when using the Drink. A zenith mage (excluding SMN) with a SAM sub to account for any +/- to these values. Its also entirely possible, although "new & funky" like many things released in that update, that the drink could convert one of these stats into something else (like the Misteilltein's conversion of TP into MP).
I'll do some tests on the drink a bit after I'm done w/ my habetrot camping, 2 stacks left so it won't be too long.
Went to AH and checked, Nashmau stew is the only thing I had found Fall's name under. It was Sold on 4/25/06, which is well after we found the Parade Gorget he is supposedly involved in.
Maybe someone asked him to help them get a gorget, and he bought a nashmau stew from the AH and told them he was trading a goblin drink![]()
God this is driving me crazy, I always thought recipie combos were in the .DATs.
There has to be SOME kind of pattern for goblin foods ><
Usually people would just go to their guilds and spam the NPCs until they got the new recipes... then when the update for it came out, the new recipes got listed on those NPCs. Unfortunately, some are omitted on purpose... this being one of them. =/Originally Posted by Corrderio
There's a Vana'diel Tribune that mentions Goblin Drink lol, anyone seen this?

I can't read this shit though, and you need to get it from google's cache.

Seems with this last update to the website, SE has stopped hosting the Vana'diel Tribune entirely. >.<
Recipes are also kept server side. If we could extract the data from .DAT files, all possible recipes would be widely known by now.
Bleh, so much for trying to read it through PoLOriginally Posted by Jeryhn
That article is based on Hallowe'en from what I can tell.. Goblin Drink doesn't translate with Altavista's Babel Fish though. Best I could do.Originally Posted by divisortheory

It added a food effect, not a drink effect, most of the drinks add a MP or HP up icon as opposed to food. But there is also a NPC in there that can remove food effects, I tried a red curry next, and got the expected stat increases showing in my menu.I'll admit I haven't been to the hostel, but do the temp foods give food bonuses? I didn't check hMP or hHP, but those are both easy enough to check for, that its worth paying the 600g or w/e it was to go in the first time.
I'm sure this has been considered and such but how are synths in this game decided? What I mean is, could it be possible that there is a dat somewhere that says x+y=z containing every recipe for the game that hasn't been found?

In the .dat files for the recipe NPCs, it basically works like this.
MferNPC : Why don't you try a <FinishedProduct>, you inferior bug?
MferNPC : You will need: <Crystal>
MferNPC : <KeyItem> (If applicable)
MferNPC : <Ingredient> (This line is repeated as nescessary to accomodate each ingredient.)
MferNPC : That's it. Insert arbitrary comment about another NPC's mother.
I feed it through a translation program. It's a very poetry-like read after you do that.
Anyway, the Goblin drink (along with chocolate and pies) is mentioned as something that the goblin vendors were selling to the adventurers during the costume festival on Halloween.
So, I guess that the Goblin Drink is probably a 'sweet' thing? Might be worth trying goblin chocolate or the ffxi-version of coco beans.
