also, I was under the impression that this quest wasn't repeatable, and that the reward was based solely on your NPC's model. Which would make this recipe quite stupid.
This is my first post on these boards. I have been a long time reader but this item has had me interested for a long time. The last time this gorget was brought up I tried doing some research to see if I can find anything. Being a 75 pld I would really love this item if the latent is worth it.
On thing I found was a key item you obtain in Olton for a quest that starts in Port Bastok. http://ffxi.somepage.com/questdb/75. Check out the one key item you need Pointed Jug ( http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6363 ). Whe you turn this item in to the NPC he says something like "Wow this smells horrendous. It must be some kind of drink. I will take it back to the Olstery (sp?) in Windy for more research. " (ok these are not his exact word but i forgot to screenshot the log at the time & its been a while since I completed this quest).
Over the next couple days I completed the next quest in the series & spent alot of time running around windy talking to NPCs to see if I could find anything but with no luck. I even tried to go back & get the key item again but its a one time deal. I hate windy & havent done many quests but I have high fame in windy only because I repeated one quest a thousand times. This could also be why I got nothing out of the NPCs there.
There is a 3rd quest in the series that I have not been able to complete because there is a lvl cap BC at the end & you all know how tough it can be to get ppl to do lvl cap things. Maybe you have to complete the whole series to get the recipie?
I have also done some looking through the .dat files but wasnt able to come up with anything there either.
Anyway I just thought I would this info. I dont really know if it will help at all but I sure hope it does. I would love to have this item.
The last quest gives one of those Don't-Use-Snipers lolrings SE added a few updates after CoP release, Bowyer I think.
Yup, the reward is exactly that.Originally Posted by Priran
Just as a helpful, semi-off topic note, the other two people I used to do Bionic Bug with and I all got up to this quest so we could trade Ahriman Tears to Tarnotik and be teleported to Mine Shaft #2716 quickly. Just like Twinkbrix though, he refuses to port you there if you have the Mine Shaft Operating Lever on you from trading a Sylvan Stone so don't waste your time if you're thinking about it.
I know what the reward is. Its kind of why I havent completed the quest. I am just thinking that you might have to complete it to unlock some dialog with a NPC somewhere? Its just an idea I thought I would toss out there since no one really knows much about this dam drink. The last quest gives one of those Don't-Use-Snipers lolrings SE added a few updates after CoP release, Bowyer I think.
I tried a few thing tonight with movalpolos water, but nothing worked. AH don't have enough ingredient, and I ran out of space buying stack of ingredient.
Anyone has any idea for the craft I could try, because I don't.
Nah, he'll still port you, I had it, just say yes, then talk again, then trade tears.Originally Posted by Russta

The recipe for said beverage is mostly unknown, but based on the other goblin recipes currently in game I make the following assumptions: 1.) It will use all 8 crafting ingredient slots. Ingredients can be repeated. All the other goblin items like Mushpot, Chocolate, Bread, and Pie have all 8 slots utilized. In Gobbie Chocolate, 3 Kukuru beans are needed so repeat ingredients may fill the slots. 2.) It can use distilled water, not just movapolis water. Will have one water in recipe. The other goblin items use distilled water. Can't rule out the obviously rare ingredient moval water, but need to work distilled water into the experiments as well. 3.) It uses pre-ToAH ingredients. Several reports of people wearing the gorgets pre-expansion, so the Goblin Drink is definitely made from non-ToAH materials. 4.) It will be a combination of strictly "vegetable" ingredients (+AGI/-VIT foods). Basing this assertion on the pattern laid down by Goblin Mushpot. The drink description mentions its made from a mixture of strained vegetables. There are 11 ingredients that are straight vegetables. Those vegetables are: Beaugreens, Cibol, Eggplant, Frost Turnip, Gysahl Greens, La Thiene Cabbage, Moon Carrot, Napa, Rarab Tail, San D'Orian Carrot, Wild Onion. Moon Carrot source is currently unknown. 5.) It will include 1-2 weird ingredients. Each goblin item has one or two whacked out ingredients that make it a gobbie food. Poison flour and bone chip in the bread, crayfish in the pie, and cobalt jellyfish in the chocolate. Can assume the beverage will follow a similar pattern.
Vegetable list is interesting. I missed a few when I tried the craft.
I really hope you don't need anything else, because adding 2 "weird" ingredients is almost impossible. There is just too many.
Is there anything special you can get from goblin or molvapolos (fishing?) that could be used? Beside wild onion, I don't know any item that could be associated to goblin
If there's a fish in the recipe, it would seem anything fished from the zone itself would be a good place to start. A quick search of fish from oldmoval pulls up a few possibilities to try throwing in the drink (oddest milkshake ever):
Armored Pisces, copper frog, black eel, and blindfish.
Are there any vegetables or seafood (e.g. crayfish, cobolt jellyfish) that were added in the same patch as Parade Gorget and Goblin Drink?
Yeah it will still port you, but when you say 'yes', it removes your key item, so you can no longer do the ENM, and would need to farm more sylvan stones, and still need to use firesands to get there.Originally Posted by Koyangi

Soooo, any idea where Moon carrot could drop?
All popped NM require a rare drop usually, and Moon carrot would make sense if you take in context the "wolfman" part.
[edit]
Is it a new item? I thought it was new, but after reading Alla, I'm confused.
Moon carrots are from an event, dropped from special rabbits or something. Last time I did that event was when the game was first released in japan....Originally Posted by Kaylia
