There was some discussion earlier in the thread about a relic weapon being a 'gift' from a linkshell, or whether it was something an individual player should pay for.
As someone mentioned not all shells, and in fact most shells, are not like Iron or Order and simply don't devote those kind of resources to acquiring a relic weapon.
The Dynamis I run for my linkshell, which is an open Dynamis LS, takes a more middle of the road approach. We allow members of our main LS to sponsor runs to keep currency, at the moment this is essentially just a few players who were already well along on their own relic weapons (stage 3/5 progress).
We also allow other open attendees to occasionally sponsor a run to work on their own weapons.
It's by no means a 'fast' way to acquire a single relic weapon but so far it has been working relatively well considering we have attendees from a variety of linkshells.
As far as what 'weapons' are worth it I think to me it comes down to wanting to see some tangible gain out of all those Dynamis aside from AF2. If you aren't structuring rules to in some way work towards a weapon then it feels like you are losing all that currency as people sell it away to people outside your run who are upgrading their own weapon.
There is such a multitude of gear out there that I think no job is so VASTLY improved by any of the relic weapons, yes some are a more 'impressive' gain in what they offer a job. But every single job has the gear out there to do their job amazingly well without needing a relic. So whatever weapon people are working on, more power to them I say.
