the part of the brain you circled is your occipital lobe, in the back of your head, that is responsible for vision. if you are getting headaches there there is a very high chance that it is a result from your eyes and and unhealthy habit of viewing something. i know looking at a monitor, especially a CRT, in the dark is bad for eyes. perhaps now it is catching up to you. you could also need glasses.

That room is a recipie for a headache. I can almost feel one coming just looking at it. Try to avoid extremes of light and dark for prolonged periods of time.

Edit: Let me clarify.

When you focus on something close to you (such as a monitor or a book), your pupil shrinks as your eye focuses on the detail of that close up object. But, when in a dark room, your pupil opens to let in more light so you can see. This is why people say reading in the dark is bad for you (even though it's not). Your pupil is trying to shrink and expand at the same time, which causes a lot of strain on them, leading to headaches. But your room also looks like it has very bright lights and very dark areas. This has the same effect, as your eye is contantly shifting between the two extremes. Tension on your eyes usually leads to headaches, so if you're prone to them, you should avoid it. Take this from someone who is most definatly prone to headaches. I think your sensitivity to getting them is somewhat genetic, though, so I wouldn't worry too much about a tumor (which your risk of is also inherited).

as was said before, try bumping up your refresh rate, myself, anything less than 72 hertz i can see the flicker, and i get a really bad headache

Switch back to the original and see if you get headaches. That way, if you wanna have headaches in the future or not, you can just change the light thing :D You have yourself a headache machine!!

I have a very very very light headache now (nothing that will stop me from doing anything) but i think it's because the light i have on now isn't strong enough to counter my monitor.

I'm gonna see if i buy a small lamp and put like a 30 or 40 watt light to help me out.

I also lowered the back light on my monitor (good monitor, has the ability to control the light in it)

so far it's helping.

Um, I'm a little late to the party ><

But I was getting some headaches about a year ago. I tried everything. I had a little lamp and after being on my pc for hours straight I would get headaches and my eyes would start to like.. twitch.

I got the advice to sit further away from my monitor and have a bright light. Since then I havent had any headaches But now this light makes it so god damn hot that I cant sit here for long w/o a fan lol

The headaches came back lol. I went to the doctor and got tested. Urine and blood came back clean. I told him if there could have been something growing up there and he said it would be impossible because of the way Im standing in front of him right now (aka normal etc).

He said that I should take a vacation and that all of this is getting caused by stress.

I also went to the eye doctor and got myself some new glasses to help.



So, Stress... I have a good idea of where that is all coming from.

I sleep very good and have good control of my internal clock.
