I'm stuck in the former section. I've long since given up on the concept that I can control other human beings. I can only suggest and remind and take from it what I can. It's frustrating but it also gives me a good idea of who I can count on and who I can not (and subsequently who to reward, prioritize, or leave wanting). It's really hard to listen to the plight of the RDM who's always complaining about how this game shouldnt take up their life when during a camp at 3AM theyre off leveling monk, that's just straight bullshit. You got a wife and a kid? More power to you bro, what the fuck are you doing in crawler's nest then?

Though, I've never been in an LS since near enough the beginning to judge what kind of preperation it took and how long it took.

Those people make my kicking finger itch. I'm personally sick and tired of sky myself, but I know my LS got me what I have now, and I'm there with them to get their shit. I wish more people felt that way. I can't control other people, but I can control how much whining I have to listen to about someone that's not pulling their weight.

I can forsee that after ur first king , you get to see many lsmates true colours , and as time goes by , lesser and lesser people will turn up for 3 kings ....
anyway imo , get your rules up and enforced before you start any thing ...
reduce drama to the minimal level ...

I honestly think that Kings are nearly impossible to start on a regular basis -now- with any kind of up and coming shell or sky farming shell. Reasons are that, with the claim patch that happened last year or so, NA linkshells are now out and established in Aery in full fucking force along with the dedicated (insane) JP shells that have been there for 3 years prior.

Not only do you have to beat simple strategies into peoples heads that have never fought these monsters before (run from meteor goddamn it! no, if you don't stand here you WILL get hit by breath. get the fucker out of its shell fast. This stuff is really stupidly simple but hard for some people to comprehend the first couple of times), but you must make them understand that the chance of claiming vs 4 other shells and the fact that so many of them bot to an extent so the claiming chance is low, and you must keep moral up anyway in order to get people to keep coming back to camp so that the one day you do claim you don't get destroyed.

Again, I say nearly impossible because I have seen it done (rarely). Motivation, endurance, and dedication to do this stuff everyday is what determines if you will ever kill a king, not really skill unfortunatley lol.

This is actually a pretty good topic surprisingly enough. So I'm actually going to post!

First and foremost: Do not waste your time capping out Sky once you start Ground Kings, because you will never be capped as long as people level new jobs! I can't tell you enough from my experiences as a shell holder in a previous ls and now a sackholder for a JP/NA hnmls that you will never EVER be finished with sky, so don't ever make an effort to try to be. In the amount of time you spend "capping" your LS, your entire LS can level enough jobs to keep you in sky perpetually.

KB is a joke. When you can kill Kirin reliably and speedily (like, say under 45min.) then KB is no problem. They are the same mob except KB has the common decency to not spawn other monsters. Adamantoise and Aspidochelone are a joke too. Once you kill uhhhfuck, Genbu! you are ready for those. Fafnir and Nidhogg you will really not get any good experience on except *WATCHING OTHER LS FIGHT*. Your first claim you'll probably have a fair amount of OMFG WE GET?!?!?! reactions so calm your kids down and fight it. Fafnir is not very tough, but if you have bad jobs bad subs and he gets wing happy, hey, shit can hit the fan. Nidhogg, well, tuck your nuts and work.

Most important thing on camping is discipline. Once you get the claim, just do your job. It's going to be very laggy, and filter appropriately. Remember blockaid. If things start to go wrong, keep your composure. People will talk shit when you start in the pit, it's up to you to prove them wrong. The LS I'm in, we camp shit 24/7 because we have people on both sides of the Pacific. People are pretty haijin, but that isn't what is most important. What is important, is that we are there every fucking day, even if we haven't claimed in 4 days, 5 days, 6 days, doesn't matter. That is the real motivational issue - you have to be willing to go all the time when the HNM is in your time, and not get down about it.

yeap , tilo is right , in ifrit you get to see the same faces in the jp shells even at midnight jpt >_< therefore in ifrit you need lots and lots of determination to make ur ls pimped.

I find it odd that JPs stay up to 3 am or even 7 am just for a pixeled monster. I mean, NAs aren't there at 7 am. I just find it that the JPs are more addicted than the others...

Thanks a lot for the replies, I've had some really useful feedback and I'll try to convince the sackholders to make a start on Adamantoise/Aspid just to get a little experience under our belt first. I think we have enough interest throughout the LS, but the main problem as many people have mentioned; was trying to keep morale and attendance high after seeing other LSes claim consecutively. I've camped enough times to know how disheartening it can become, but I know once we get our first claim(s), people will want to keep coming back because of how much of a thrill the fights are... And on top of that, great drops. I'd just love to see the LS end up with Dalmaticas, E. Body and M. Body since I've been in the LS since we first started farming pop items...
