Wouldn't it be better to use Dancing Edge?

You can do Dancing Edge with a rusty knife. This is Mandau. Be a man. Have mercy. Reach out and stroke someone.Originally Posted by divisortheory

Psh, I wouldn't even consider Shark Bite over Dancing Edge in merit party lol. I can't imagine Mercy Stroke outdamages it when not stacked with SA or TA?
Yeha, but Mercy Stroke is TOTAL e-peen. I'd sacrifice 200 dmg just to draw OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH's.
There are times that style does indeed > stats. This is one of them.
Yea, but that only matters when a party shows up looking for camp, or when you get to camp for the first time. After that I'd just switch back to DE lol
Did you change the animation or sound for DE? I absolutely hate that screeching noise.Originally Posted by divisortheory
It's style and good damage, that's why I continue to use it. If it was a shitty WS i'd go to dancing edge, but the numbers are great, why would I go back really?Originally Posted by divisortheory
Would you buy a ferrari and then go drive on the speed limit in normal roads? F no, you go on the highway and feel the power of awesome.
Do you have to stack with SA or TA for it to do good damage? What's the damage like when used by itself?
Mercy Stroke at 100% (or any % really) is basically Shark Bite at 300%. DE at 100% beats SB at 100%, but SB with high TP isn't particularly weak.
Of course DE will win without SA or TA, but even in burn PTs you really should be stacking with at least 1 or the other, its not exactly hard to do.
you remind me of my speeding ticket :XOriginally Posted by Lordwafik
Actually in burn parties you shouldn't be stacking at all. I won't lie though, if I had a Mandau I'd probably use Mercy Stroke also, and if the only way to get good damage out of it was to stack it, I probably would.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
Stacking one of the 2 with the WS guarantees a crit which increases the modifier on the non-trivial dagger-borne damage of the WS.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Only thing SA or TA will do for the actual WS dmg, as Aurik corrected me, is insure that the ws is a critical hit. The SA and TA will still do their damage with or without the ws. However, in the case of Mercy Stroke, insuring it's a crit can be very good for its damage.
Edit: And of course he chimes in just ahead of me with my contribution to the thread, thanks Aurik![]()
I dont see why not, ensuring a critical on WS?Actually in burn parties you shouldn't be stacking at all. I won't lie though, if I had a Mandau I'd probably use Mercy Stroke also, and if the only way to get good damage out of it was to stack it, I probably would.
I keep SA and TA seperated, and just spam mercy with either one, I really can't understand why you wouldnt use them![]()
I don't stack them with DE because ensuring a Critical Hit on one of 5 hits isn't nearly as big of a boost to DoT as being able to use SA and TA the instant the timer becomes available, as opposed to having to wait 5-10 seconds for TP. Or having TP sit around wasted while i wait for one of the timers to come around, while I could have already used the WS and be 40% of the way to 100 again.
The time between charging SA to the time you use WS isnt that long of a wait (unless you are one of the thieves that charges SA and waits for a few seconds), at most you'd miss 1-3 swings, I dont mind sacrificing 1-3 swings for a much greater damage boost, if higher DoT is what you're going for after all.

2) I have 100tp but SA is another 12 seconds away
That sort of stuff
