I've had more R0s than usual, and my boyfriend was disconnecting so badly he couldn't get on for more than 30 seconds to do limbus the other night. We're European, but my ISP is notoriously craptacular during my FFXI playtime (i.e. the middle of the night), and invariably schedules network maintenance to coincide directly with dynamis.

I've met maybe one person who's had this similar issue that I've been running into for a few months now...

I get this on-and-off R:0 issue approximately once a day, usually late late late at night.

I'm 99% certain that it's not my connection because I can be browsing, downloading, chatting on any other application with no problem whatsoever, but FFXI goes R:0 ~ R:130 ~ R:0 ~ 194 ~ R:0 ~ R:210 back and forth until my connection speed drops to 0%~10% for a good 5-10 minutes. I'm amazed I can sit at 0% connection speed for 5 minutes and not get disconnected. I don't even get a red linkdead icon by my name. However, if I try and zone at all during this period, I always get disconnected and dumped to POL (which remains online) then I reconnect to FFXI just to pop up in the same place with R:0 back and forth until the whole 15-minute long issue has passed.

Anyone have a clue to how to remedy this or at least let me know I'm not the only one... It gets rather frustrating, makes me useless if it occurs during an exp pt, and definitely isn't fun when we're trying to enter limbus or dynamis or something.

P.S: I don't run anything besides the latest archbell windower since I'm a PC user.

This is exactly my symptoms. I'm on Comcast in the SF Bay area, using a Linksys wireless router, though it happens to my laptop when I'm wired directly into it.

It often happens about 8-9pm at night, and is resolved by shutting down FFXI and power-cycling my router.

However, this new-but-similar r0 behavior has been constant since last night when I got home from work, and isn't resolved by power cycling my router (nor by throwing it across the room).

I get that a lot too... and yeah, it usually happens for about 15 minutes, late at night (like 11pm-12am EST)...

I'm on Comcast in the Boston area.

And I've been on and off getting this R0 crap too since yesterday around 6 EST... spamming myself with /tells usually prevents me from DCing entirely, but a lot of times it will go back to a normal S/R rate, then POL will just boot me, even at 100%...

I replaced my router with a DLink and magically the problem is gone. For now.

I also use a wireless Linksys router, and have been having this problem for atleast two months now. When the other computer on my network (downstairs, through a few walls/ceilings of course) connects, and stays connected for a few minutes/hours, I will always get disconnected from FFXi, and nothing else.

I have Cox (lol...) DSL. I'm hard wired straight into my router. What gets to me is that it doesn't seem to be my connection at all, only the ffxi game application itself, since none of my other online activities (including playonline viewer) get even remotely slowed down or interrupted at all, since just about every time this happens, I minimize FFXI for a bit and browse for 10-15 minutes :/

For people who are on Comcast in the New England area, there is a peering point problem for us trying to going over the ocean. In other words, one of the routers that connects Comcast to another person's network is acting up. Intermittently it will start having heavy packet loss and that creates our R0s. I am not sure if it belongs to comcast or netcom, but either way its a problem Comcast should be dealing with.

This obviously affects others who go through the same peering point, however it does not necessarily mean all comcast users use this same path to connect. I just know that users in New England do.

Same thing happens to me. I use Cox Cable in NC, and use a linksys router. It only did it while hooked up to the router, but once I bypass the router, everything is fine. Here I thought it was my router acting up too...

My linksys router is now in about 300 pieces. A hammer did the trick nicely.

I've been having the same problem as you since I started playing, aurik.

comcast in southern chicago suburbs area, with a linksys wireless router. however, i've been plugged directly into the modem and the exact same thing still happens.. so I doubt getting a d-link would fix my problem.

Belkin is complete shit, D-Link is probably OK, but the best wireless router I've ever had is my Linksys WRT54G. I have 2 of them now w/ some custom firmware.
