Just to check back in, 24 hours after getting my dlink, I've not had this problem again. Whether it was a compatibility issue or a just plain busted router, it's gone.

i'm getting this really bad tonight, ruining dynamis windy for me actually ... i'm also in the boston area & on linksys, but i'm almost positive it has to do with microsoft's latest windows authentication patch...this started when i finally rebooted after patching, not june 2 till yesterday. could be a big coincidence but...
either way really really annoying
My connection has also been shit for the last couple of days. I've tried rebooting my router and modem many times.
Using Rogers Cable(western canada) and a Linksys wireless router but a wired connection.
Maybe it's SE and they won't admit it![]()
lol I have been R0ing ALOT lately. My ls did Aspi today, I was R0 the whole fight = = then we did Tiamat, and half the fight I R0. Then for 7 hours I didn't R0 a single time.
Not a single time.
Then I claim Friar Rush against like 7 gilsellers as blu75/nin37 and I r0 immediately, 40 seconds later im at 18 hp and get utsu ni off. I magic fruit and R0 again and come back dead = =
I heard from a friend that there were some packet issues in New England lately. I've been getting massive R0's for a week straight now. Always had Linksys router and Comcast for the entire duration of my FFXI life, which is going on 2.5 years now.
I find it odd that after that length of time, these problems are surfacing now. I never update my Windows machine so I doubt there's a patch issue.
It seems more like a server issue based on the replies, especially considering this. Seems like Comcast has made New England its little guinea pig with this new way they manage high-bandwidth activity. However, just to rule things out I'm going to connect to the modem directly tonight and see if it's the router after all.

i agree, it's definately something up w/comcast. i was forgetting to think when i posted earlier, along with not reading recent replies and a lack of sleep. hope they fix this up soon for us...Originally Posted by chixxor

New England.
This thread was about Europe, not America. Way to invade our thread :/Originally Posted by Pinball THE ORIGINAL FUCKING POST
I bypassed my Linksys router and connected directly to the modem. No problems with R0 last night at all. As much as I wanted to blame Comcast this seems to be a hardware problem.
I believe they carry this item in England as well.
My R0 problems seemed to stop yesterday as well.
I'm in New England and my R0's stopped sometime yesterday as well.
Glad to see someone had some evidence that it was Comcast, because my wireless router + hammer combo was about to go down in the street.
Sorry for the necro bump.. I've been having the same problem with R0 for roughly a year. 2-3 times a day on average for about 15 minutes each(never gone past 20 or below 10), my connection speed gradually drops toward 0% and R hits 0. I have a linksys router as well, and if I disconnect the router I can reliably stay online. After the update today, I've had this happen for 2 hours straight and no end in sight. Tried disconnecting router and it works fine, reconnect router and goes back to r0 as soon as I'm online. I intend to replace the router as that is obviously the problem, just curious if SE has changed their way of connecting or anything thats causing it to be permanent instead of a small annoyance or if anyone has any idea why this happens.
Edit: Zoning during this is a guaranteed d/c, spam checking myself or other people brings R back up momentarily, spamming enough stops d/c completely but new actions only load when a check processes.
