When a mob lasts 10-30 seconds and the party is taking almost no damage, why are you casting burn, Bio, paralyze and slow? I really dont get it, its not like its hard to haste the melee and refresh yourself and the bard and drop the odd cure.
I cant believe everyone missed this shockingly true statement.
QFT again. If you want an easy Chain100+, all you gotta do is HasteX4, RefreshX1.5 (BRD doesn't always need it), DiaII every mob that you can (Sometimes they just kill too quickly even for this...), and be mindful of your chain and help pull when the BRD is busy, nuke when the PT is working a mob that can potentially break the chain (High EVA Mamool, Obficurate or whatever, Wind Shear without shadows), and keep everyone alive. So many people that don't know how to burn...Originally Posted by sephir
Which brings me to bad BRDs.... if you don't come to a Burn PT willing and expecting to pull, then I will not hesitate to kick you the fuck out. If you don't cast Stoneskin before you pull, and pull with Elegy, or at least something that allows you to have Earth Staff equiped as you are coming back to the camp, then I will let you die until you learn the lesson youself. If you are not willing to contribute the occasional CureIII or CuragaII to the PT, then GTFO. If you can't play at LEAST 3 songs per fight (2 Melee songs and at LEAST BalladII for the RDM) and pull, then you are not worthy of a Burn PT.
Your kidding if you think you need a bard to play 3 songs per fight on puks . The mob is dead in like 10 seconds I usally pull one in advance and have another sleeping and maybe get two songs. Its even worse with 7 parties in that 9 inch square and your camping pops. I guess you could play 3 songs if your melees suck or mage can't keep up with healing. I've done plenty of chain 200+ only losing it when there is nothing to pull. If you want to keep a good chain sometimes you have to live without songs.
Then why invite a brd if it isnt playing songs? Any job can pull.Originally Posted by AyrlynofDiabolos
Wow, you have to sacrifice songs to keep the chain going? No offense, but it sounds like you need to try harder. In Bhaflau Thickets, repops are so fast that you can pretty much just sing one song after pulling, and for maybe 2-3 pulls tops, you have repops near/ontop of your camp. This is pretty much where I'll start voking to pull instead of relying on the BRD (provided he hasn't already pulled). I really don't see how your PTs have to 'live without songs'Originally Posted by AyrlynofDiabolos

works like a charm, chain 356 caedarva mire the second time I went there
I don't mean literally per mob. If one song lasts 2-3 mobs, then thats great. I just mean that we should ALWAYS have songs on. "Per mob" is kind of an old phrase back when it took more time to kill mobs, or when people leveled off of mobs harder than T-VT. When it actually took the entire Duration (Give or take a few seconds) to kill a mob. Just maintaining a cycle is sufficient for my needs.
best possible thing a bard can do in a burn party and there is no better alternativeOriginally Posted by Genosync

Highlighting this because a LOT of bards miss it. Only sing ballad 1 at the end of the above steps if you have time - else go pull. If you try to stick another -> pull -> ballad1 at the end of the above, melee songs will wear off. This is not complicated...ballad 1 is not worth losing melee songs over.Originally Posted by Genosync
Also, try going /nin if you have it available, and stack minus song cast gear if you can (minstrel ring, sha'ir body, rostrums). At a minimum, get the minstrel ring if you can't afford/obtain the other two. In yellow hp, a bard with that setup can cast 2x songs in the time it takes NQ bard to cast 1 - this makes pulling & buffing that much easier.
That's the best sign of a bad player in my opinion. How do bad players stay bad for so long? Eventually you would think they'd learn from watching others or from suggestions or experience. The only way that doesn't happen is when they have a bad attitude and use this anti-learning defense mechanism ("don't tell me how to play my job")Originally Posted by Daahan
Seriously a normal person that later becomes a skilled player would say "oh, I never thought about it, does it really work that way? I should try it"... it's not hard
Well you may never have been to thickets when its crowded and things are insta claimed 3 min repops or not . Sometimes I spend time just spamming for a pull or running across the country. Most melees don't even try to pull they sit there waiting. I can easly play song's usally every pull provided theres mobs just standing around but with 4-5 parties thats not usually the case. Bard's do the best pulling around there so the melee's don,t have to waste time scouting for mob's imo. If I have to neglect one ballad or one melee song once in a while to keep the chain going I will.
i agree that so many rdm and bards are shitty, but i notice a good portion of the people complaining are meleeI rarley play my rdm, and when i do it is for burn pt's, and after awhile you start burning out because it is high paced and you have many responsibilities at the same time. I have also done burn pt's as melee and it is 10834587432 easier, all you do is engage and spam your WS's. If you find the mages on your server unacceptable, lvl it yourselves and stop your bitching. I see only a few here that are entitled to bitch because they have lvl'd these jobs. Bottom line is that melee are easy mindless jobs to do in these pt's.
One last thing, i am a good rdm, and when i do my burn pt's ppl are always hasted, status effects are always gone, and ppl always live. Just had to get the "you probably suck as rdm" argument out of the way.
Going BRD/NIN might be a good idea but if you say you're going BRD/NIN the PT freaks out "ZOMG we need all of your cures go /WHM!"... Okay... maybe /RDM for fastca-- "NO>>> MUST BE /WHM!"
Perhaps I should take up the general prima donna BRD attitude and say "You get BRD/NIN or no fucking BRD at all"
Depends on the camp. In Uleguerand Range, I'd rather have a Bard with a WHM sub. At Mamool Ja staging point camp, I'd rather have BRD/NIN.Originally Posted by Yeargdribble
Both work. There are times when WHM sub has saved the entire parties life. DSeal Curaga 2 is a lot of healing power in a pinch. Hard hitting mobs, like those Trees in Caedarva, NIN sub is nice for bard, especially since bard sleep seems to get resisted about 25% on them.
NIN sub is a must in BLM parties IMO, but who does those anymore? Everyone levels a melee and merits their BLM on that.
