If the US can get by the Czech's tomorrow, they have a good chance of exiting the first round, but then they'd most likely have to take on Brasil if they are E2, because I think italy will go undefeated in group play. If the US can get lucky like they did 4 years ago and beat italy like they beat the group favorite Portugal in Korea, then as E1, I think they may make it to the quarters because they wouldn't have to play Brasil quite yet.

We'll see, Noon tomorrow will be alot of fun. So far though, England needs to step it up, winning on an OG isn't an indication of everything is going great, especially against a less than stellar Paraguay team- and Germany, They look good, but I will wait till after their next game until I call them a contender. Speaking of goaltending, the US squad is DEEP and good at keeper, with Keller starting and Howard as backup, they could easily start either of them.

Brasil is clearly the favorite, but , their one huge flaw is overconfidence and lazy play. They always have a game every tournament where a decent team puts up a great fight because the brasileiros don't buckle down. Hopefully that lazy game comes against the US if the US leaves group play as #2 seed.

Actually if the US passes the first round it'll be together with the Czechs and not with Italy.

Todays matches are awesome, by the way. Well, on paper. Looks more promising than yesterdays Mexico - Iran which was an entertaining but meh match.

The US just never got going at all offensively. Although, now the other teams don't have to deal with the 6'7 wall o goals that the Czech's had. I don't know the status of Kholler, but he left with a hamstring injury at the end of the first half and it sounded like he'd be out the rest of the Cup.
