Just from personal observation from playing both NIN and PLD frequently, I still get crit a lot more on PLD than on NIN with 150+ VIT (and not just on Tiamat ;p). Don't get hit as often on NIN to begin with, but on certain mobs you're bound to get hit regardless and when you do, crits are very noticeable. On PLD, you get crit more, but the damage you take isn't as substantial as that as you'd see on a job with low VIT.
I think the best example I can think of is Nidhogg during his latent /ja mode. Some people call it Mighty Strikes, but its really not. Its really just Nidhogg on 'roids with maxed out Attack, Defense, Magic. Def, crit rate and even Magic. Attk (his wing dmg is amped). In any case, if you watch the damage during his latent, a lot of his attacks will score critical hits, however, I've noticed that NINs can get hit during latent and have a higher chance to avoid critical (you won't see the Critical Hit! message but will still take a lot of damage because of near capped attack). PLDs can avoid crits as well, just not nearly as often and because of their low AGI but high VIT the damage is essentially the same whether its a crit or not.

I thought Wing was just an elemental WS >_>. That would explain why it hit stronger when it get the atk increase after his special.
Chiz said that his Magic Attack was likely beefed too, hence the increased Wing Damage.Originally Posted by Kaylia
It's possible that Wings used by wyrms are calculated using their physical stats and buffs (STR, DEX, Attack), but deal magical damage (which always wipes shadows). That still makes it pretty similar to an elemental WS, without the elemental aspect.
I don't think Tiamat's Wing is stronger while under the effects of Mighty Strikes is it? It's been like 2 months since I fought a Tiamat so I can't really remember.
Edit: Then again Wing can't "Crit" so meh. Maybe someone can Bio a wyrm and test?~
I know what Chiz said, and that's why I replied that line. I'm just saying there is no reason for his special to increase its magic atk since Wings is TP moves most likely influenced by physical stats. Unless m.atk does increase the strength of elemental weapon skill, it probably does x2 dmg for the same reason than its melee.Originally Posted by Krandor
Nid move is more like dmgx2 than "crit". Just calling it Mighty strike since it uses that animation.Originally Posted by Krandor
I tested out Red Lotus Blade with Moldavite Earring once; it did seem to up the damage somewhat. You would really need someone with a fairly large MAB build to test it out though. Zenith Mitts, Moldavite Earring, Yigit Gomlek, and Duelist's Boots would put someone up to +19 MAB, that much bonus damage would be pretty easy to spot.Originally Posted by Kaylia
Sam are going to start macroing moldavite earring now:wink:
A better way to test would be to go /blm btw and check if your WS are stronger. You get a lot of magic atk
