Yeh I went through all the english patch notes... they made referance to KB's Meteor hitting everyone instead of alliance only (lol) in the patch right before NA release. So, maybe the July 17, 2003 update?

New high-level notorious monsters have been introduced. These monsters have been added to the new, as well as previous, regions.

Parties can now be formed in regions, rather than areas. In conjunction with this change, the PCs listed when performing a "find member" search are now limited to those PCs close to the searcher's current level. More detailed searches will also be limited to the first 100 PCs that fit that search's parameters. Areas where maps do not exist, as well as ferries and airships, are not considered a part of a region when searching for a party. The number of PCs displayed in normal region and area searches has also been limited to the first 100. The number displayed in a world search has been increased from 14 to 40.

When using the "Seek Member" function under "Party" in the main menu, the resulting list will now include all party-seeking characters in the region without first narrowing the search parameters to a level range close to your own.

FYI, the first patch notes that talk about Shield Bash is a misstranslation, all that is about the Great Axe weapon skill Shield Break. I never realized they nerfed the best weapon skill in the game AND yokodama in the same patch...

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt Fuidama sata? It was Yokodama that let you sata from any direction (and that got 'fixed' (and half the thf quit)).

Behemoth (NQ onry) had been around since the start of FFXI iirc, since among the zones the kings reside in only Behemoth's Dominion was not in the RoZ expansion.

KB, Adam/Aspid, and Fafnir/Nidhogg were all added at the same time, I don't know when though.

Too lazy to dig up a link, but I seem to remember NQ Behemoth being added when the level cap was raised to 55.

Yeah, Yokodama is something like "side attack" in JP. Until the december '03 patch, THFs could just stand to the side sort of inbetween the tank and the mob and SATA would still land. Fuidama is the "proper" SATA, with the mob facing away from the THF and a person inbetween the THF and the mob.

I hated that change at first but now I'm fine with it. I'm not restricted to Jeuno when looking for a party.

agreed. It made people learn the function of /sea all XX-XX instead of just *press region search*

I got alot of my thief invites in bastok or farming, rather than sticking in jeuno.

When I first got interested in FFXI (and ultimately THF) it was the idea of yokodama that got me interested, THFs would be so much better if they could still do it (they can kinda post 60 but it's still a long way to go)
