    Stun and zerg works well.

Have 2-3 Blue Mages spam Head Butt, Tail Slap, Temporal Shift, Frypan. Maybe a RDM/DRK or 3 stunning in rotation while hasted too. Then the rest of the alliance can focus on killing Omega (BLM's should watch for Gunpods).

we never kite it, though we probably should.

the real strat is to keep it alive for as long as you can and kill gunpods hoping a chip will drop.

killing it in 5 minutes might be cool but that's detrimental to getting more coins and possibly fighting Omega again sooner.

We beat this with 12 a couple weeks ago using blink tanks and straight tanking the whole time. The melee's solo WSed when it was on it's 2-legs, and the BLM's nuked it with tier-3's while it was on all 4's. I don't really have anything to add to this thread that hasn't been said except that you can stun those really nasty WS during the last 20% or so when it's on it's hind legs.

It's not a difficult fight, as long as you go prepared you shouldn't have any problems.

Why bother say 'use BLU'? Most LSes don't even have ONE yet

If you can kill Proto-Omega within 5-10 minutes with 0 deaths, you're probably good enough to let him sit at under 5% and kite him until the timer has almost wound down. However, since the patch, most times you kill the Gunpod it drops useless crap. Before the patch, it dropped chips almost every time.

However, since Proto-Omega is ridiculously easy, and doing Apollyon isn't exactly what'd I'd call difficult, you really shouldn't have any trouble simply redoing the zones and not worrying about getting chips from Proto-Omega himself. We've never tried to farm him for chips, and we did Omega once a week for over a month solid.

If you require 2-3 BLU spamming Stun constantly, or CS Stun, or basically feel you're going to wipe if you don't get that clutch Stun off, you need to focus on being able to kill this thing efficiently and not just running in terror. You should also take the time to think of a good tanking strategy. If you haven't come that far, though, well... lol. Sometimes I wonder if my LS even knows what Stun is, and we still kill it in under 10 minutes when we're doing badly that run.

    Synopsis:

2legs: Use WSes! Spam melee attacks!

4legs: Do an SC! MB with Tier4/Ga3!

Hell, if you had enough BLMs you could one-shot Proto-Omega with a single SC. That alone makes him easily killable by most RMT-grade LSes.

(For a real topic, let's get SE to change him back to the way he was before the patch, when he took like 10% of any damage you actually dealt to him. MNKs only being able to hit for like 10 a fist when it was on 2legs was hot sauce.)

We never got a chip till recently. So I guess that can't be the case since we usually do 2+ pods a run.

I seem to recall getting Oxblood or something equally retarded like that on one of my runs. I've also seen Adaman ore as well.

straight tanking is so much easier when dealing with shadows also. 2 tanks on him double march if possible.
kiteing is kinda hard when you need to recast shadows. and if the blms are nuking he tends to run out of range. Also with shadows. i may be the only one but if you dont stop running and wait like 1 sec then you interrupt yourself.

i have also wanted to experement with nin/drk on him. with all my haste gear haste and double march i can knock stun down to about 25sec AND i can keep enough enimity on me to still tank effectivly. I would bring like 10 yagado drinks though so i dont need to waste rdms Mp.

I presume for even the proto fights you require both Clense and the proper Card to gain entry with your chip set?

    Yeah Proto-Omega is cake.

Basically just bring 5 blms and np @ all to win just don't hold back. Basically my 1st attempt took like 27 mins but we were holding back a lot and regan is kind of strong imo. Our next 2 attempts was 1 like 10 mins next like 5 mins but we held it @ 10% to try to farm gunpods.

Just tell your blms not to hold back and it goes down fast. Imo no reason to skillchain just takes longer to setup making fight longer.

No reason to kite @ all unless people start dieing and you need to recover IE both tanks die etc.

As stated before all out zerg with scatter stuns / when tank needs stuns and very easy fight.

If your a new LS, I suggest bringing as many stuns as you can. The more TP moves you stun, the easier the fight is. Any tank works(yes, even PLD/WAR for those Utsusemi onry morons...) Kiting seems useless to me as Omega runs fast and you can't stick gravity on it. Other than what is already said, watch out for the last 20%. It will spam, er I forget which abilities.. I know colossal blow is one, auto-red HP IIRC. You can CS+stun if you want and have everyone 2 hour it. 12+ people recomended. Pods attack uber fast and hard. 2 BLM is all you need for them. Just have someone like a war/nin or whatever provoke them and have your BLM's nuke them ASAP.

Meh I guess this is after developing experience with this fight. We just PLD/WAR straight rape him in about 10min flat. This fights a joke after your first try.
