Its not massive in the sense that you're playing with 2000+ people who you can all interact with at once. Its a bunch of people who can play together with eachother, but only in small instanced groups.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

GW isn't either. A game that uses a lobby/chatroom to connect and then play the game in a small(read: not massive) groups of people in an instanced zone is not a MMORPG.
I've never considered PSO and thank fuck for that, it's why I wanna go back. FFXI is just too much but PSO wouldn't be enough now. I really hope PSU gets the balance right.
Fixed. :wink:Originally Posted by Russta
pso was hardly massive, at its peak i recall somewhere between 15k-20k people playing at the busiest times. it was hardly roleplaying in that you could beat the whole game in 3-4 hours and there was little to no story. quests didnt really do much for the game to enhance that.
to me, pso was a simple hack and slash action/adventure game requiring next to no skill to play. however, it was fun as hell.
idk what game will be the "next generation" of MMORPGs but i want to see next Square MMORPG project. After years improving our FFXI, they should do a great game.
after mmorpgs.. life.. gotta rebuild what it has destructed..

PC version of PSO is still active. Most members have quit because they figured PSU was coming to US soon, but it's release date was pushed back and have come back.
The new missions are good and a welcomed challenge. There are some clans (Linkshells) out there that you can chat (voice and keyboard) and play with.
PSO community is very helpful and noob friendly unlike FFXI. They'll hook you up with items and help you level. One of the good online RPG's where people actually thank you for curing/saving them often.
EDIT: I wouldn't recommend trying Episode IV right off the bat. Even starting out, you can get owned very easy. Lv30-40 may be a good starting point for Episode IV.
Once FFXI is over I'm gonna sit back... look at the past X years of my life, and think to myself... "what... the... fuck...."
Then go outside and play :D
Or failing that, see what new MMORPGs are coming out, and pick the one least likely to attract all the wankers from FFXI.
