Need some advice from UK ppl

Moving to new student house in about a month or so, the previous tennants were a group of dancers ( I want to think strippers) who had no use for internet or anything so the landlord didn't bother putting in a phone system/internet access.

Sooooo he left it to us to sort it out and he'll pay for the installation and so on, looking for a company that does both high speed broadband and the phone system to run it on.

4+Mb/s preferable, no download limit! All five of us are serious music/movie downloaders and download limits would suck bad.

In the liverpool area if thats important.

    Cheers

I honestly think the only place in UK you can get over like 2mb is in London... I'm not 100% but I know it was like that for a while.

As for companies....uh... I'd say BT, Bulldog and Wannado are the only ones which come to mind.

You need to phone BT they run all the phone exchanges. Get a phone line installed, then worry about a ISP

As for the speed you require, there are areas (quite a few) in the uk that cannot get xDSL at all (when copper got expencive in the 70s/80s BT messed with other methods of installing phone lines in to new homes)
Hope you can get it first before you worry about 4mb

    ANYHOW

Check http://www.adslguide.org.uk all the xDSL ISP are listed here, with speeds limits and costs. They even have some forums for every ISP so you can read what other users think about AOL/bulldog etc

Id advise going with http://www.pipex.co.uk ive been with them since before the days of broadband and have had very few problems (and when i have they have been resolved quick)

    God im board ;/

I would second the pipex suggestion. I think in 3 years of being with them I have had connection problems for about 12 hours of that time. There is no limits to downloads if you choose the correct package. All in all I wouldnt trust anyone else to supply me with ADSL

Thanks for the replies so far, looked into some of them and they look promising.
