I know how skillchains work, I just dont understand the chart. Namely, the fact that theres double direction on some of the ws groups with 2 different possible SC listed.

That just indicates that there are two different outcomes depending on the order of WS used for those cases. For instance, there is a double direction arrow between Scission and Liquefactions.

So (ignoring priorities):
Scission (earth) > Liquefaction (fire) creates Liquefaction (fire)
Liquefaction (fire) > Scission (earth) creates Scission (earth)

Knowing how skillchains work would mean the understanding of that as well.

Those are more intuitive, if you really want to hurt your brain, think about:

Transfixion (light) -> Scission (earth) = Distortion (water/ice)

The lack of intuition in those cases is the fault of SE designing them that way. You have to treat them simply as rules that A > B creates C. Also, that case doesn't involve a double arrow situation.

Induration (ice) > Reverberation (water) creates Fragmentation (thunder/wind)
yet the reverse:
Reverberation (water) > Induration (ice) creates Induration (ice)

Well right, same for me I think. I mean I know how to SC, have a clue how it all works, but when I look at a chart, none of it makes any sense to me. Even knowing some SC and trying to use that knowledge to figure out how the chart works, no dice.

So I just read the responses to this thread, and I am just as confused as I was when I woke up this morning. It just isn't clicking I guess

There's a few weird WSs I need to lookup sometimes, but for the most part I just go on memory. I don't get how people can play over 2 years and still have to ask "SC for lv50 MNK and SAM?" and other similar things... Its not that complicated.

Pretty much, other than some like...staff and club WS's, and I don't really know the Blood Pacts very well. But anything people actually use I can usually tell by memory if they chain.

Soooooo back on topic, anyone have Body Slam, Spinal Cleave, Hysteric Barrage, or leveling PUP? I mean, I love thread derailage as much as the next guy, but this is a little extreme

Pretty much. There is a few summon i dont know, and maybe club/staff, but I think I could write the whole chart on top of my head.

As of now there is only one spell that is not on the chart, that being Body Slam. If -anyone- has information regarding ways you can SC with Body Slam, lemme know.

There is also one spell that needs the priorities of it tested, Spinal Cleave.

Body Slam is listed as having only one renkei property, Impaction. Spinal Cleave has a main property of Scission and second property of Detonation. Hysteric Barrage is only listed as having a main property of Detonation (Source).

FF11 Wiki has been a very reliable site so far, but I cannot back up the Body Slam/Spinal Cleave properties with personal experience. However, I hope this will point you in the right direction.

EDIT: The only difference in their PUP info is that they list Impaction under String Clipper, but they don't specify A and B properties. Everything else is the same.

If you studied finite automata in any way it's pretty easy. I just always found it much quicker to work with the .jp style chart.

Heh, you act like every melee in this game knows this stuff. False, just like not every mage in the game even knows the Elemental Wheel. (LOL@BLMs nuking Water Based mobs with Fire, or Earth based with Thunder, etc.). I think I could figure out the chart if I actually tried, but I have no reason to...

A while back, I heard of a way to make a Light Skillchain in the 30s (I think it was 6-part, but I would like to see that non-the-less) anyone know if this is possible?

It's not possible to make Light or Darkness until level 200+ WS's (or 70+ BLU spells) regardless of how many SC's you use

BLU spell properties are easy, as far as I can tell. Stat boost=properties.

i.e.:
Jet Stream - DEX+2
Impaction

Disseverment - INT+1 MND+1
Distortion

That's true for the vast majority of spells. The only ones I've found that don't follow that rule:

Terror Touch (doesn't give MND yet has secondary Reverberation trait)
Death Scissors (gives HP and no MP, has Compression trait instead of Transfixion)
Cannonball (gives STR and DEX, should give STR and CHR/HP with Fusion trait)
Ram Charge (gives HP only, but has Fragmentation trait)

If I had to guess it's a mistake by SE but stranger things have happened I guess.

Anyway, I think the problem is that nobody has those 3 skills yet. Maybe they make Cosmic Elucidation!

With the ability for mob skills to now make skillchains, if you were fighting 2 mobs at the same time and they just so happened to use the right 2 skills on you back to back, could the mob SC you?

Nah, several blus have those skills, I know one that has all spells and trust me, many ls members remember helping her get Body Slam , also anyone who has 75 Blu would have all spells if they took the job serious enough to level it all the way, just because no one posts about it does not mean they don't.

Right, and neither of us would know ANYTHING about that

I figured so few people having Body Slam was the majority of the problem, but for now at least I've got that JP Wiki to go off of. I think it's probably incomplete but it's better than nothing.

And for the mobs SC'ing, they don't have Chain Affinity, so nevah! Though using the skills does take up their TP so maybe it would..lmao...that would suck and be pretty sweet at the same time No fighting Aerns and Euvhi at the same time, Disseverment >> Vertical Cleave: Darkness nothx
