being honest id rather the economy be in the shitter and not have every NM and HNM comprised of RMT. if they could keep up and start banning the farmers i think people would not have to result to buying gil or quiting the game. its not bout the gil anymore the game is just no longer enjoyable. theres also the solution of making every big gil item Ex i think that is a plausable solution too. i dont think SE realizes that.

I liked the idea of the restrictions on how much gil you can send through the delivery system, and only allowing one box to hold gil at a time. That was sharp thinking, and was geared towards a long-term RMT control, as it chokes their volume of ability to do business way down. I wouldn't be opposed to further restricting the amount, say down to 500K at one time. Let's be honest here, who, other than an RMT, needs to transfer mass amounts of gil immediately? Even if you have a mule that crafts for you or sells spare loot you get at times that you would need to get cash from from time to time, it really is only a minor inconvenience to have to mule over and send the gil. If you sent yourself 500K every day before you logged out for sleep/work/masturbation time, you could keep up for the most part, and not be in a situation where you had to have millions on hand at short notice. As for IGE: First off, my ball sack is in dire need of a tongue bath. Prease get to work. Second, I am at a loss as to why SE does not just do what any other business would do in a similar situation, and that is file a C&D against IGE. Fact: IGE's business, by its very nature, violates SEs ToS for its game. That is grounds enough to ban the ever-living shit out of them all, but at the very least it should serve as grounds for a C&D, which can be enforced legally.

Uh, I as a crafter with now 5 guilds under my belt like to send massive amounts of gil between characters immediately. Fortunately I have my characters spread between 2 accounts so it's not as bad. But still, fucking annoying when i am off doing something on my main acct and I want to transfer 5 mil from my bone mule to my wood mule.

Based on the fact that just last night a crafter friend had me courrier 20 mil between characters for her, I don't think that I'm alone in this frustration.

    Clearity for the retards:

Gil-FARMERS and Gil-SELLERS are two different things. People label them all gilsellers because overall they are the main process of buying/selling gil. Don't take it literal.

Lastly, they say using duping. Do the gil sellers in sky do that? No.

Nothing SE said was BS. Your LS should have a mass-suicide for not understanding the situation.

i find it funny, look at the DATE on both posts... S/E said oh! we better say something too! we might lose (more) customers to WoW. The whole banning of RMT accounts is BS. 250Billion my ass. The only people they ban are end game players who use flee tool. Prices wont drop because this news is nothing more then PR hype from S/E.

In keeping with Blizzard's aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, we banned over 30,000 accounts in the month of May, and with that removed well over 30 million gold from the economy across all realms. The banned accounts were taking part in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items, which severely impacts the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

We will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and its players from the harmful effects of cheating. Please note that selling World of Warcraft content, such as gold, items, and characters, can result in a permanent ban of the involved accounts from World of Warcraft.

Many account closures come as the direct result of tips reported to our GMs in game or emailed to our Hacks Team by legitimate World of Warcraft players. If you suspect that a World of Warcraft player is using an illegal third-party program to farm gold or items, or is otherwise violating our Terms of Use, please report the suspected infraction via one of the means listed above. All reports will be investigated, and those that prove false will not result in corrective action.

Thank you for your continued support, and good luck with your adventures in Azeroth!

    RMT Countermeasures

Recently, a number of accounts which were confirmed to have violated the the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools were discovered and have been permanently suspended.

Since the middle of May, 2006, the development team and the GMs carried out a detailed investigation of this problem, and discovered the existence of a group using illicit methods to produce large amounts of gil that are later sold in the real world (Real Money Trading). We would like to take this opportunity to outline the measures that have been taken to correct this issue.

Based on the results of this investigation, more than 250 accounts among those found to be involved in large-scale RMT operations have been terminated. We will continue to monitor accounts suspected of dealing in gil created or obtained in an unfair manner. Thanks to these measures, more than 250 billion gil has been removed from circulation.

As has been previously stated, acts of RMT will not be tolerated in FINAL FANTASY XI, and any violations of the user agreement will be dealt with severely. We would like to assure our players that all efforts are being made to ensure a fair playing experience.

We hope to have your continuing understanding and cooperation in creating a Vana'diel that everyone can enjoy.

A one-time transfer of 20M is small-time compared to the amount of gil that was being shat out left, right and sideways 8 months ago. When your business requires you to be sending 10-15M gil per box per trip to the delivery boy and you get choked off to 1M and one box, it fucks your world up. No crafter, idc how many Aristocrat's your mules can shit out, would be continuously transferring a comparable volume of gil.

    Edit: code
    Edit: phrasing

websites like IGE preferred trading their gil in person because they didnt want customers going "I DIDNT GET MY GIL LOL REFUND PLEASE" even if they did get it. So nerfing the delivery box didnt hurt gilseller sites.

Too bad you can't just buy an airship pass and trade money directly.

If that is the case, then it should be fairly easy to narc out the characters/accounts who are transferring gil. It would have to be done periodically, but do it often enough, and all that farmed gil keeps going down the drain, eventually IGE won't be able to keep their gil stored for any length of time. Even if they own a 'storage account' say to hold a stock of gil, and distribute that gil to the accounts/chars that would then distribute it to the buyers, it can all be tracked.

I still say SE should just take the easy path and file a C&D. That would force IGE to shut down it's website, and also prohibit them from advertising their business, as that would be a blatant display of disregard for the C&D.

that would be a blatant display of disregard for the C&D.
It's the Internet man. Try and send a C&D to a company in a country where a C&D has no authority. e.g. China. You can't send the C&D to Google advertising either. Google doesn't give a fuck. I have been down this road. S/E is fucked on the legal road. Not even Ebay listens to their C&D orders for selling accounts. S/E can only handle this issue by throwing employee's(aka money) at the problem. An RMT task force, (because GMs are not the answer) would cost tons of cash. Its a balancing act from the business end. Ban enough RMT (and make fake news posts) so that the players are happy, collect your monthly fee's and hope the problem works itself out. (people stop buying gil)

The part about FFXI Economy I don't understand..

Pre-Xmas Sale, Dynamis Currency was 10-15k
    During Inflation, 50k
    Post-Inflation, 60-70k

    Midgardsormr! Something like that
