Oh i agree, we've done a ton of tiamats using PLD/NIN. Having three pld/nin makes it a load easier on the tank who gets roared. Two PLD/NINs have no problem blinking for the couple minutes it takes to get hate built back up. Once he flies, getting hate as PLD/NIN gets incredibly easy, especially when all your PLDs (cept 1 >.>) have AF2 body. Just trying to point out to the Maguspk that PLD/NIN is capable of holding hate as good a PLD/WAR, but PLD/NIN takes a little practice if your tanks aren't accustomned to using it. PLD/NIN is an art.

Our linkshell is the oldest NA linkshell across all servers, our tanks aren't that stupid lol. They don't wear much, if any, koenig while on PLD/NIN. Your whole praise of the PLD/NIN seems to come from you having lots of tanks though. We usually have 1-2 tanks for most stuff, so we try to stick to what works best alone, PLD/WAR. Like I said, they make hate alot faster, and when Tiamat Roars or something, it's alot easier for them to get hate back. We don't have the luxury of having NIN/WAR and PLD/NINx2 at everything :/. But yeh, my LS isn't stupid we know how to use PLD/NIN we just don't prefer it.

I don't really understand all this "PLD/NIN works best only in groups of 3" stuff, it may be true but 2x PLD/NIN works just as good IMO. I don't even remember the last time we had to seriously require the use of three tanks to fight a mob effectively. I've tanked just about everything in the game (not to brag, but just as an experience reference), and nothing was so hard that more than two tanks were necessary, aside from Absolute Virtue but that's another story. :\

I don't see how it's practical at all though to have just one PLD/WAR tank anything other than maybe Fafnir. It's too dangerous to do that anywhere else. Tiamat can take down even the most decked out PLD/WAR in a single chain of double attacks, Cerberus is no different with the chains of Triple Attacks, and then no matter how skilled the tank solo tanking will generate less hate than a pair will since that single target gets all the focus and will constantly lose hate from taking damage with no real way to balance it off.

Then, what I believe to be the greatest advantage of PLD/NIN, is it allows you to fight mobs that normally would take 30+ people to kill with a stable setup without MP problems... With a group of 15-25. We've engaged Tiamat with just 12 and finished it off in under 2 hours with 17 people at the end and almost no MP trouble using a NIN/WAR and PLD/NIN duo. Things like this are common for us lately since Tiamat has been popping at awkward times, and our LS attendence isn't as great as it used to be. Same applies for many other HNMs as well.

Anyway, that's my view on it.

On the whole pld/nin vs pld/war thing...from what I've seen on HNMs, skilled players make pld/nin a god, while the weak plds that are dumb have to hide behind provoke.

Although I'm fairly new to tanking Wyrms (4 tiamats, 4 jorm wins) it seems to me that whats most important is having a consistent tanking crew that can easily bounce hate off eachother and never lose it. Things like when one tank gets terror on Tiamat, other tanks know how to step it up and almost instantly get hate off the other tank so no damage is taken at all all the while the mob never once loses hate on the tanks.

BTW, really like nin/drk x2 and pld/nin on Tiamat. The stuns from two nins is so bad ass and with good fire resist setup the pld/nin covers all the curing the tank party pretty much ever needs besides dmg from TP attacks.

Also really liked nin/drk x2 and rdm/nin tanks on Jormungand since his massive MAB is so sick, rdm grabs hate when he flies and takes lot less dmg than the nins.

In response to an earlier post, this is why people tend to choose 3xPLD/NIN instead of 2. Terror is an extremely dangerous thing, and 2 in close duration when dealing with tanks with no provoke could be a bad mixture.

In all reality, this would probably be a rare occurance and invincible would be enough to cover it. When I was in infinitum we just went with what we had...if it was 2 PLD's then they subbed /WAR and we AA'd, if we had 3 we used /NIN and the WHM might as well be banishing since 3xPLD/NIN is such a ridiculously fluid setup.

NIN/DRK seems like a dream setup though, I wish I could have seen this in action, or finished my NIN and done it myself...it looks like a blast.

I doubt there's anything to be jealous of. It was sad to see him get his M.Body at a Nidhogg where it had to be elemental-seal slept eleven times (yes we counted) to kill it with a full alliance, while other LS's can kill it start to finish with no issues at all.

I don't have anything against Ekeis, he always seemed like a nice guy to me and I sent him a tell gratsing him on the Koenig and I would have for the ring.

It's not Validus fault that SE designed a game where no matter how hard you work it still comes down to pure and complete luck as to who gets what, it's just frustrating when one LS works harder to be more effecient and effective than another yet is unable to reap the same rewards (although at last count I knew they had ten ridills so maybe that balances it out hehe)

Well we use 1 pld/war, and 2 war/whms, and youll see tanks asking BLMs to stop stunning cause were at full HP and need to keep up curing to keep our hate lock.

The more we claim and win the better we get. So take the attitude elsewhere. Validus can claim an HNM and are capable of killing them, thats all you need to be concerned with...not how we kill it.
