So that's how gilsellers got sea!

Wtf is this picture?
That would mean adding a "if" in front of the operation that update movement every seconds or so. Server could handle that, but it's still a lot of cpu wasted. You obviously misread what I said. Checking to see if the Client is requesting to move from 0,0,0 to 342,234502345235,235419237452 in less than a second and rejecting that request would be preventing it from being possible, not catching people doing it.
and you missed what i said, implimenting a check that would THEN reject it would require a rewrite of their engine. theyre not gonna do that. anything pertaining to movement thats not left clientside = rewrite, and if it is left client side, it will be haxxed. all they can do is look at logs. You obviously misread what I said. lmao
Never seen the zone but Taj that is a NPC from a "Cheat Menu" zone, the zone is listed in POLUtils and allows you to change yourself to any rank, any amount of gil, any anything in the game. I don't know how to access it though or I'd be alot more rich right now lol
Looks like Windurst Woods..
I said where the NPC is from.Originally Posted by superfob

Ranger nerf was teh biggest in terms of changing the whole aspect of the job. They should've waited it out, instead they nerfed teh "whored out" job because they wanted people to explore other jobs(same deal with mithkabobs nerf).
Let's say Ranger was back the way it was, I'm pretty certain WAR/NINs and DRKs could outdamage Rangers, but now rangers don't even stand a chance of hoping to outdamage these jobs.
imo they need to improve rng's ranged acc, it's just not fair for them.
nothing worst than missing 3 WS in a row lol
some people just dont realize thats how bad our accuracy is. you see a monk or warrior miss their weapon skill and its like wow, you see a ranger miss one and its like well maybe he'll hit one out of the next 3.nothing worst than missing 3 WS in a row lol
TP Nerf gets my vote.
Well in order for a mnk or war to miss their ws, normally it would only happen when a mob does PD, or like happened to me last night, when one of them Sea Puks does that Flash move, on my Rng, I just miss my Sidewinder even while using PPA (well over 100 Range Accuracy) while a mob is not using any evasive moves.Originally Posted by Matricide
It's actually not an NPC from the Zone you're thinking of, Raineer. It's just an NPC in Windurst Woods that is active but "hidden", by making it untargetable. And the Zone isn't called "Cheat Menu", it's called "CSHome", or, GM Zone. For the record, the NPC Changes your Windurst Rank, and since I'm not Windurstian and have no desire to lose my Outpost Warps, I haven't used it. (Although I might be Rank 10 Windurst now, who knows?)
As for the check and having to "rewrite their entire engine", you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. A simple check to see if they're passing any sane limit of distance/time and disconnecting them would not be impossible. Obviously you've never played World of Warcraft. As for it being a lot of CPU Resources, to be quite honest, I'd rather have a laggier server than every gilseller on Fairy warp hacking between Mee Deggi the Punisher and Quu Dommi the Gallant in Castle Oztroja, while managing to claim both.
So no, it wouldn't require a "rewrite of their entire engine."
Wow that's nuts. And whats the deal with your sig. o_O
i guess i have no idea what i'm talking about, i guess rewriting all the movement code doesn't qualify as 'rewriting the engine' even though it would be both a server and client based change, i guess because it's something so simple without consequence and that's why it's already been done. /sarc
they're not going to rewrite the movement code, and it's never going to change. no sense in argument over technicalities.
Right, because they would really have to rewrite the entire movement code to implement something so simple. Pull your head out of your ass, please.Originally Posted by Matricide

Atm, if you lag a bit while you run, nothing happen since it's done client side. The game is always fluid cause of that. On the other hand, if you make "faster than normal" movement illegal, any lag would just bring you back to the place where you started lagging.
having about +80 r-acc and still missing with sharpshot and sushi on means somebody fucked up ranger pretty harsh
if I had +80 acc on my war with sushi and aggressor on, well you know
right now my war has +28 acc and I use sushi and keep a 95% acc rating and easily 100% when aggressor is on, this is with axe merits
pre-nerf sharpshot meant you didnt miss, period, post nerf Ive missed too weak mobs with sharpshot on and leftover sushi
Im not saying the nerf wasnt needed, but it needs to be toned down, I could live with having to PAY for my damage and stand farther away, but losing my damage and having to stand in possibly dangerous areas, while occasionally missing songs, just to possibly miss a really nice minuet, just doesnt fly happily for me
still love my ranger though, Ill never let go of it
it's funny you think it's so simple; yet it hasn't been done. yes they would have to rewrite movement code.Originally Posted by Taj

TP nerf and range attack nerf were both pretty bad, but I think RA nerf wins, lol. A nerf might have been necessary in both cases - think of how easy laughable TP burn would be now without that nerf, and remember the Ranger armies that made every other job obsolete on HNM - but the double-nerf of literally changing the most accurate job in the game to one of the least accurate, and then screwing their damage formula to high heaven was pretty bad. Then they had to add this distance bullcrap to further mess up their accuracy and damage. I mean, a nerf was good for the game, but didn't someone think just one of the two, er, three was sufficient? I sure as hell did.
Oh, and every time someone says something to the effect of "RANGErs are supposed to attack from RANGE duh lawlz!" I (dramatic pause) gaze at the heavens and ask God, why oh why was karyuudo translated LOTR style instead of to "hunter" like the word actually freaking means.
Every time someone mentions that it is more realistic for Rangers to have to stand at a distance, I want to smack that person because it is a game not reality. If we wanted it to be realistic there would be no magic system or Puppetmasters or Dragoons or weapon skills or beastmen or non-Hume races. And instead of going out and killing things, you would have to work at a job that you hate, and in that game, your characters would play a game where everyone complained that the game was not realistic, so their game would be about working at a job that they hate too. >_<Originally Posted by Miruka
