Bad Drama followed by a Question

Ok, so here's the story. I was chilling in lower jeuno yesterday and some guy is shouting to sell his astral rings for 1,400,000 each. I was interested so I send him a tell and try to bargain with him. He won't bargain at all and he was kind of being an ass so, I said I would have to think about it.

Then I just realized I was on my second account(mule acc.) which had about 200k and some low level stuff and my main was in some far off land so I said I don't think I would be interested in buying. He insists I buy them, and says he will just send me the rings in the mail, and I could give mail him the gil later or something. So at this point, I was no longer interested in buying the rings but this dude is insisting, and proceeds to ask what my main's name is. I tell him my friend's main name (whom has no idea what's going on) but i called him and told him go look at his delivery box, there's a suprise in there ^^. At this point, I didn't think the seller was actually STUPID enough to just send the rings, after making an agreement with level 1 naked muke, whom he never knew before.

My friend calls me back, "OMG LOL THANKS FOR THE RINGS DUDE" and i thinking rofl he actually sent them? what a dumbass, but I kind of felt bad because maybe the guy has down syndrome irl or something. I called my buddy and said maybe we could give it back to him after we screwed with him a little, but it turns out he sold it to one of his friends like asap. and this morning we woke up and both my mule account and my buddy's account is in Mordion Gaol for investagating...

I know we are jackasses but we don't wanna get in trouble! Does anyone have tips or something, or some kind of legal crap i could tell them?
example: chapter 2.1 POL booklet "a trade or transaction is final" or i dont know something of the sort.

    Thanks and Love,
    Anon Poster :D

I bought a serene ring from a JP that mispriced it at 1.1m instead of 11m
I might have felt bad if it wasnt a JP player.

Best way to get out is probably give the dude 2 astrals back. I hear SE is being strict on supposed "trade" frauds, so the dude probably said you cheated him.

Yes, but honestly, I don't have 2 astrals to give him. Who would get in trouble in this scenario? My friend just opened his mail box without talking to anyone in game and just took the rings out. Will they go get it from the dude my friend sold it too? I seen something like that before and that would be kind of funny but dumb.

I'm guess they'd hold you responsible for telling the guy to send rings to an account and that you'd pay. Remember your mule is tied to your account. In any case, did GMs let you tell your side of the story? Also all chat logs are logged, so gotta be careful how you worded it to that guy.

It's called theft or breach of contract. You negotiated a deal for the rings. At that point you have what SE deems a contract. It is in the logs and is therefore enforceable by ToA which you consented to when you logged on.

You tried to scam this guy, you got caught, and you absolutely deserve to deal with the consequences. He will get his rings back, you will get a mark on your account at minimum and most likely a temp ban.

Yes, his account will be marked, even if he was innocent.

Go go Business Law, technicly hes right, even though it was an oral statment, you both agreed to exchange goods for a payment. Oral is as good as written for most contracts, and once that agreement was confirmed, you made a contract.

Then again, this isnt real life.

Technically, it's a written agreement due to the agreeing to the deal in the chat log.

Eh idk why this seems hard to believe.

Well, the casual GM would've told the player that he just had to not send the rings ...

If your accounts are really being investigated, then I don't understand why Spicytuna didn't get the Club back from Aioro.
